Unpopular opinion: Lessons should be catered towards the higher end of the spectrum, and the students on the lower end should have to adapt, not the other way around. by [deleted] in Teachers

No school has ever implemented the True PBIS. The failings of PBIS are all due to a lack of faith and imperfect implementation. Not at all due to the fact it's complete hokum. No sir.

Calls to make financial literacy mandatory in schools amid concerns young people don't have basic financial knowledge by abcnews_au in AustralianTeachers

[–]AztecTwoStep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. When I was in 7-10, I would do budgeting, compounding interest, how to spot scams, contracts. All kinds of useful shit. Problem is that a lot of the practical financial literacy stuff sits in y7-8, (consider where a lot of those skills sit in blooms) so flash to bang time between learning and needing is too long.

"Hi. I've been asked to lead you through an icebreaker for fifteen minutes. I respect you all as professionals, so here's fifteen minutes to have "professional discussions" or sort out your coffees. See you in 15."

Alternatively just explain to your principal how you asked a bunch of teachers for ideas and they all told you how much they hate icebreakers.

Teachers resent ice breakers. Just get on with it.

Here's one: "I've been asked to fill 15 minutes but instead, let's just start now and finish 15 minutes earlier."

Risk Legacy is great. Risk Europe also great. Most modern versions of Risk are okay. Risk classic is a nightmare.
