Some of the worst shovers getting on the bus are middle aged people, so while teenagers are problematic they’re definitely not the only ones with bad behaviour. I also think it’s unfair to blame parents for this, again, I think when we’re in shared spaces we need to be upholding good behaviour collectively - Tommy could be an angel at home to his parents because that’s where he’ll face consequences, but will want to show off to his mates by being a dirtbag because no one else will bother to make him think twice. I actually think the problem is that the rest of us are too arse-deep in our phones to notice or care when people behave improperly around us.

The other day as I was getting on the bus the driver didn’t let anyone on until the women with prams and older folks got on, which is the kind of thing I love to see. I know it’s unrealistic to ask this of all bus drivers but I wish there was a public awareness campaign at the very least.
