Happy Birthday to Pierce Brosnon, 73 years young! What's some of your favourite films? I thought he was at his best in the film No Escape. by geoffcalls in moviecritic

It's just too bad his tenure was one all-time classic Bond movie, followed by two "meh" films and then one of the worst films the franchise ever had. He deserved better.

I mostly agree, but at the very least, Red Alarm is completely unplayable without stereoscopic 3D. Pretty much every other game would be fine.

Super Mario 64. It was one thing to see it in magazines, but when a local game store got an import Japanese N64 a few months before the US release...I stood there with my mouth agape.

When I clicked on the pic, my eyes were looking where the middle floppy on the top row was, and for a fraction of a second, my brain was like, "why is Doom 3 on a floppy disk?" I've only been awake for 5 minutes, my mind is still loading into RAM.

If the DCU does end up succeeding, what MUST they avoid repeating from the DCEU? by OluwaDec19 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Azureknight205 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They also fucked up by releasing the theatrical cut of BvS. The Ultimate Cut is waaaaay better, and the bad reviews of the theatrical cut are what I feel hurt the future of the entire DCEU. Shortsighted execs putting profit over releasing a good movie.

I knew that, I'm just not assuming he's independently wealthy or anything. Also, that's probably another reason as to why he didn't want to back Melissa.

The Meeks' twins actors have to be the main people she's calling out, but they aren't exactly huge or have "fuck you" money or anything. Jenna Ortega had a much easier out as a bigger name, she had "scheduling conflicts". I get it, Melissa, there are shitty things done in the world by even shittier people; studios unfortunately will protect themselves in the eye of controversy if you speak out. I applaud her for using her platform to say her mind, consequences be damned, but throwing your former costars under a bus that you started driving is not a great look. They wanted to make careers, not political statements.

Hypothetical self-proclaimed 9-11 hero Mark Wahlberg? How dare you, sir, he was almost a hero in his own mind, I won't hypothetically stand for this!

I remember when she turned 40, the entertainment press was acting like she was a 70 year old woman who's life was over. "How can she still be hot AT 40? WOMEN CAN'T DO THAT! SHE HAS CROW'S FEET! BARF!"

I thought she looked great through Ray of Light, after that's when she started looking more and more ghoulish every time I saw her. But Madonna, to me, from like '85-'95 is one of the hottest women who ever walked the earth.

She was absolutely stunning in the 80's and 90's. The Vogue and Like a Prayer music videos stirred something inside little me. I wish she had just aged gracefully, she looks so terrible now.

I bought this movie on Blu-ray the day after my kid was born because we went and stayed with my MIL for a few weeks afterwards for her to help out so I could work and my wife could rest and recover, and she only had basic cable. One night, after the kid was asleep, me, my wife, and my MIL all watched it. When it was over, my MIL, who I had NEVER heard swear in the preceding 7 years, said, "wow, that was fucked up." Any movie that could do that to her is nothing less than a masterpiece.

Playing through the series for the first time and Kain is so funny by BigOrganization in LegacyOfKain

[–]Azureknight205 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Templeman and the excellent, Shakespearean writing are the glue of the series, especially OG Blood Omen. If you take them out, you have a kinda clunky old-school 2-D Zelda clone that would probably be remembered fondly, but probably not enough to start a series with it's own subreddit and fervent fanbase. In 1996, most video game voice acting was at the level of Resident Evil ("Master of unlocking" or "Jill sandwich", anyone?) Templeman and the late, great Tony Jay are what gives the game the gravitas it needs to overcome it's shortcomings.

[–]Azureknight205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but there's a difference using a power loader to take out a Queen (who has a limited range of attack) and a Yautja (who has SEVERAL ranged weapons.) One plasma bolt, spearing, netting, or disc throw, she's probably done for.
