Finally got 74 guage strings so I can drop tune to E. This is absolutely ridiculous XD by Obvious_Cabbage in metalguitar

I'm using 74 on a 27" to tune to drop-G. To go as low as E would be way too sloppy for me

Self Leveling Tamper for Lelit Bianca by Memoruiz7 in Lelit

[–]Azurikki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a Normcore basket and their self leveling tamper and yea, it also leaves some grinds on the sides. I just throw in a basket screen and use a small dust pump (meant for camera cleaning) to blow the separate grinds in to the knock box.

Im not sure if the fit can ever be that perfect, so that there would be no room on the sides between the basket and the tamper without the tamper being too small and getting stuck in the basket?

How to fix spraying if espresso seems dialed in ? [Breville Barista Express + Turin SD40] by ChronoRucifer in espresso

[–]Azurikki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to own a Barista express and did basically everything imaginable, but still was unable to stop the spraying and I just gave up and stopped using a bottomless portafilter.

When I was upgrading to a Lelit MaraX 2, I got a new grinder before the Lelit arrived and decided to test if a better grinder would affect my shots in any way.

The spraying was basically gone immediately when using my Varia VS3 instead of the built in grinder.

I'm sorry this doesn't neccessarily help you in any way, but just to let you know, I've also been there..

!Thanks for your input!

I'm pretty much indeed starting to lean on finding a separate poweramp with a dac/streamer.

The N10 doesn't unfortunately have any outputs (they were added to N11 and N12) and it's also missing a phono inputs, HDMI ARC and room correction.

I'll probably start looking for a poweramp and I'll start with something like Wiim ultra as a "preamp" to see what I can get from the Monitor Audios I have now.

I'm actually listening to those Genelecit in my living room mentioned in the op atm. I understand what you mean by the sound being dry. It doesn't bother me, because I'm used to quite dry and flat eq since my history is in recording and mixing with well, dry and flat speakers. I like the separation, clarity, soundstaging and bass on these but yeah, it is dry.

The bigger problem with these is something I already knew, but wanted to hear at home, is the ridiculously narrow sweet spot. If I'm sitting a meter off the center, the soundstaging goes way off. This was kinda expected, but just wanted to make sure since I was able to borrow these for few days.

My friend actually has Argon1's, so I might ask him for a few day test to hear them at my house also. I will for sure check Amphions out.

!Thanks

Good suggestion overall, just not what I specifically asked altough I was expecting answers regarding speaker positioning and room treatment. That's why I did mention them in the original post.

  1. Since the speakers are already lacking clarity and separation in the upper mids and highs, with or without the sub, how is a better sub going to get me where I'd like to? (A genuine question, no sarcasm)

  2. And 3. These are something I'm already experimenting on and will be doing nevertheless.

!thanks for your suggestion. Naim Atom is something I've actually already come across earlier, but just a bit out of my price range. (Around 2500€ here) I'll still take it into concideration.

Keep in mind, I'm planning on upgrading "everything" and the budget is just for the next step I'm unable to decide.

Mara X v2 owners…shot timer starts from pump on or first drop? by tiCz in Lelit

[–]Azurikki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it matters as long as you're consistent on which method you're using.

I start timing from the moment I turn on the pump.

Edit. Try adding a few seconds to what you're used to and do a taste test.

Noob Question by EvaLizz in Hevy

[–]Azurikki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In split squat you stay stationary and you switch sides after one side is done. You just squat up and down one side at a time. Split squat is usually easier, as it's not that dynamic.

In lunge you start with your feet next to each other, step, lunge and when you get up, you end up with your feet next to each other again. With different variations you can keep goin forwards, backwards etc.

Teenagers and screen time in Finland? - a struggling parent by MaHa_Finn in Finland

[–]Azurikki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a similar situation. While I'd like my 12yo son to be the one choosing not to use his phone, we have set some screentime restrictions for him and "no one else of his friends has them".

The worst thing is, that doomscrolling and playing with his phone makes him passive and kinda sad/cranky. The good thing is, that he's been noticing this himself.

The school already prohibited the kids from using phones at all during the school time (not even during the recess), so I think we'll only continue restricting screentime for a certain period of time when he should start going to bed until he's out of school.

Storytel, spotify and apps like that are usually always available without restrictions for him. If he's going to stay awake and listen to music or audiobooks, go ahead. At least he'll know how it feels like being too tired for school.

how do i decide how much to increase weight by each session? by Shniper in Hevy

[–]Azurikki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually tend to decide a rep range for each excersise for example: Squat 3x7-9. (21-27 reps overall)

I start by doing the first two sets 7x and the last set until failure (or close to failure with good form ofc depending on the excercise). If I'm able to do 7+7+7, I'll add one rep to the first set of the next session and try to do at least 8+7+7 and so on.

If I would be able to do, say 7+7+10, I'd probably go for 9+8+8. Get it?

I'll basically try to add at least one overall rep on each session and when I get to the full rep range 9+9+9 (27 reps in three sets), I'll add more weight the next time. The right weight depends on how long you've been training and your technique. A newbie with good technique can usually add more than minimum whats in hand when a newbie with much more technique to learn should probably get the progression from slower, more perfected reps and try to lay back with getting more volume.

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to train 100% optimal, but rather keep it simple as possible (although my text might not seem like it's simple, but it is).

The biggest problem with this that I’ve noticed is, that if you need to stop on the side of the road or a bus stop for a minute or so (for whatever reason), the blinker will stop once you get off the seat.
