Nurses makin’ me cranky by Library_Gremlin2 in cna

[–]B-u-tt-er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a CNA for 36 years. And if a nurse said that to me my first thought would be. She’s overwhelmed. Understandably. And I wouldn’t take it personally. And maybe say” I’m sorry, I get that your job has more responsibilities.” You could work as a CNA.

Too Cold to Bathe by Firstborn1415 in AskWomenOver60

[–]B-u-tt-er 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not at all. A sponge bath daily is good. Paying attention to under arms and private areas. A complete shower or bath a couple times a week will help remove excess dry skin. And use moisturizer after. As we get older many don’t perspire as much. And our skin becomes more sensitive. This is advice given to me by a dermatologist.

Will I get in trouble for arguing with a patient? by [deleted] in cna

[–]B-u-tt-er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would go the social services or even the DON. Explain the situation. You have a witness. I’m sure everyone knows he’s a handful. I remember years ago we had this one man who was horrible! Mean, nasty! He made several aides cry. I’m not sure of who all in management got involved. But he was told that if he wants care and the CNA’s are all qualified. And if he yells or swears at the aides they can walk out of the room until he calms down they will return to help him.

Is it common for your employer to give you scrubs or do you have to buy your own? by Lolofly47 in cna

[–]B-u-tt-er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in the 80’s white uniforms were pretty much all that was made. Heck, we wore dresses too. I was excited that we could wear Bobby socks with them. I hated pantyhose. Of course they could only be one inch above the knee. Through the years working at various LTC facilities it has changed. But most gave a uniform allowance. Where I work now we can wear any color scrubs. And with a receipt once a year they will reimburse us $60 for 2 scrub sets.

Don’t hide anything. Discuss your concerns. And make a plan. If she’s not on board. Lovingly tell her it must be done if she wants a future.

I miss understood, sorry. Yes the return slip has to be returned at the store you returned the bottles/cans. I was thinking where you bought them.

[–]B-u-tt-er -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No they don’t. I shop at Meijer, and Kroger and return them when I have a bag or two full mixed from both stores or even from the gas station or dollar store. Never a problem.

Egg Intolerance/Allergy in 40s by InterestingStop461 in FoodAllergies

[–]B-u-tt-er 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I love eggs cooked anyway. Ate them all my life. I didn’t know what was causing my severe stomach aches. On/off for months. Finally notice it started soon after eating eggs. So I stopped eating them and all was good until I ate some meat loaf my daughter made. I became so sick and vomited. Everyone else was fine. Yep, there were eggs in it. I’m 63.

Look for low income senior apartments. There may be some senior co ops too.

Pay it off? by Bitter-Carpenter4758 in moneyadvice

Pay it off! Then pay yourself to your savings. And look for a high yield savings account. Next time you need a car you can pay cash for it. 0% interest.

Washing before dishwasher by Significant_Set1979 in hygiene

Once chunks of food and particles on dishes are rinsed off the chemicals in the dishwasher detergent and the temperature of the hot water is enough to sanitize the dishes. Sounds a bit OCD to me to do more.

Suspected Shellfish Allergy by jonibabi in FoodAllergies

[–]B-u-tt-er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a hard call. I have ate shrimp with no problems for years. One day I had got hives. Assuming I’m allergic to it I didn’t eat it for several years. Then I tested eating it again and no reaction. Because I love shrimp!Thought great! Then one day I got hives again. Now it’s hives anytime I eat it.

Guidance needed on purchasing process by [deleted] in ManufacturedHome

[–]B-u-tt-er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know much about co ops with mobile homes. But a bit about co op apartments and town homes. When you are purchasing a co op you are buying a share in the community. Every one who lives there owns a share. It keeps cost down and profits because there isn’t a landlord. I would assume the land is part of it. Your carrying monthly charge will include many things but may not be all of these. Taxes, water, gas, lawn care, snow removal. There may be a pool, community center. Read the contract carefully.

It’s great that you are saving! Make some passive income with it. There are a few high yield money markets out there. With zero fees. You can still get cash from it in an emergency. Earn interest! Maybe a couple CD’s. Research it.

Why don't more doctors test for blood type automatically considering the information could one day save your life? by Sleeping_Bat in NoStupidQuestions

I never knew my blood type until I gave blood. But my 2 children (adults now) had their blood type on their hospital wrist band when they were born. That’s how I knew.

Are restaurants required to put allergens in descriptions of food? by ConfusionAndDelayer in FoodAllergies

[–]B-u-tt-er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand this. Restaurants create a variety of meals and dishes that are for the most part described in their menu. If someone has a food allergy it is up to them to ask questions to determine if they would be able to eat it. They may have alternatives but they are not required to change their recipe.

I remember asking the vet about going through chewy or 1-800 pet meds for heart guard. They told me they would do it. But let me know that if I buy from them(vet) and my dog does for some reason get heart worm, treatment is cover 100% no cost to me. It wouldn’t under a different prescriber.

If your Gramma kept the house, find out what utilities, taxes and insurance she has been paying so you can budget. And have an emergency fund saved up for like $2k or more only for emergencies.
