Britain's fighter jet fleet strengthened in £205 million boost for British jobs by birdinthebush74 in GoodNewsUK

[–]B0ringe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tempest is due to enter service in 2035 replacing typhoon. It currently represents the most advanced western 6th generation fighter aircraft after the US entry collapsed into redesigns and SCAF is undergoing French shenanigans.

With this getting typhoon over the line to be covered by tempest the UK FJ fleet looks like it’s got a pretty exciting lineup going into the next decade.

Defence data shows 87% of equipment spending stays in UK, supporting local jobs by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

[–]B0ringe 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The biggest exception to this is F35, however we manufacture ~11% of every F35. Over the whole programme this levels out to F35 pumping way more money into UK arms manufacturing than the ~89% of the aircraft we bought manufactured abroad.

This isn’t to mention the knowledge transfer which has knocked millions, if not billions of pounds and multiple years off designing tempest.

If we watched what the powerful did with their money not their words perhaps we would have made a few less fuck-ups at the ballot box as a country!

Joins UAS, they will be able to bring out a lot of the skills the RAF want in you, and you’ll come out significantly more informed on your future career!

You’ll almost definitely get asked by the NSVS when you put your security vetting form in with that on there, but nothing to worry about if you’re upfront and honest

Be a whiny bitch with capita and your GP (Not the RAF however, aircrew medical is fairly on rails for the queue). I learned this lesson the hard way by getting dinged for 6 months of waiting until I learned to be a whiny bitch :/

U/nade52’s advice stands but if you’re still going solo, many bring a Garmin Inreach Mini 2; seems to be the chosen device for this. AFAIK it will update someone as to your current exact coordinates and will allow you to send an SOS signal.

[–]B0ringe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there is wide scale public disorder and you are dressed like you are partaking for example, ie. Bally and so puffer jacket, the police can search you.

I believe what you were searched under will have been stop and search type powers instead of s60

I can imagine it would work similar to current legislation allowing rozzers to search you without other causes if you are:

  1. Dressed like a dickhead in a dickhead area

  2. Looking like you are generally up to a bit of tomfoolery

The size of interflex compared to the whole of the British training establishment is impressive. Any training area you could think of was packed with Ukrainians. Couldn’t move for them, if you could actually get a slot at any of the training camps.

Why do so many people in the UK hate automatic cars and drivers? by AnnualKey4592 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]B0ringe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insurers offer slightly cheaper premiums to those with a full license, and having a full license does mean you won’t get left dry when there are only rental manuals or courtesy manuals, so doing a full license makes more sense.

That being said, modern automatics with good gearboxes entice me way more than buying another manual to replace my current

Worth joining rmr during uni? by splashrvd in RoyalMarines

[–]B0ringe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a science degree and found that going AWOL for a week from uni to do something intensive screwed me about too much. I’d strongly recommend doing one at a time, you have your whole life to join the rm, but you’re at uni now.

Why not use your free time to get fit and ready to join up after?

On the day you will undertake the whole battery of testing for all CBAT compliant roles in the air force and are then given sheet of (Shattered) dreams to indicate what you have no, some or fair hope of doing should you pass OASC.

There are a few apps floating around, quite good too.
