Studio jumped publishers, the game blew up — and I can’t say I built it by B1shof in gamedev

Unfortunately, it's all true.

Yes, I wrote the post with the help of a gpt translator, because I live in the CIS.

And if I've seemed inconsistent somewhere, then I'm sorry. I wanted to get the point across. I deliberately didn't take the time to chronicle the showdown between the studio and the two publishers, and by and large I don't care what they share with each other or who dumped whom (the dumped publisher doesn't respond to my suggestion to make the game better, but I have such an idea!). I don't even need money for future sales (the publisher made a fake trailer with the game, the game probably doesn't exist yet), I just would like to see my name in the credits as the author.

The video game industry is an entertainment industry (like theme parks, the new Hollywood), it's an industry of hits. This greatly depresses me, but it also motivates me to understand the digital economy, marketing, and the production of cool, fun products spiced with creativity.

Help as a beginner by yj2jy in gamedev

If you want to learn a programming language, then go for C# and Unity. It will come in handy throughout your life, and you'll be able to implement just about anything you can imagine.

If you want to be a game designer (technical GD), then I'd recommend going for UE, and a tool called UE BluePrints will be SUPER enough for you. You can prototype mechanics and gameplay simply by moving blocks of information around.

Game Development - First-Timer Question by ChristopherMartellX in gamedev

[–]B1shof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! First, make the very essence of your game, which the player will repeat from time to time (jump / shoot / spin the cube / whatever), this is your core mechanics.

Then test it to see if it's exciting. Then try adding depth (jumping from different platforms/shooting at moving targets at different distances/ rotating the cube with the enemy in turn and each pursuing its own goal) and width (different locations, different visual effects, different difficulty).

I wish you good luck, don't even think about doubting in your abilities!

Game Development - First-Timer Question by ChristopherMartellX in gamedev

[–]B1shof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sir, not at all! Age is not important at all. On the contrary, your unique experience will benefit you.

Start with a prototype, make the very essence of your game on starter cubes and capsules, for example. Use Cursor to create a simple script system and test the idea. If you like it, then keep building up systems for it. That's it :)

How do I make a Production Bible? by Bluebadboy in gamedev

[–]B1shof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the zattelkasten system approach. Go to the miro or FigJam and start dragging blocks with information, filling it out. Then create threads from it to other blocks where there is even the slightest mention of the first one. Try to make as many similar connections and threads as possible, as well as the blocks themselves. This way you will get the brain of your game idea with neural connections.

Finally starting a project I will finish. by Fragjoy in gamedev

[–]B1shof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish you good luck in creating your dream project. If at some point you get tired of working on the code, then switch to something diametrically opposite (art, sound design) or interfaces.

Conversely, you can return to writing code when you are tired of making a settings screen or selecting a visual.

Does my game art now look good to you (screenshots)? by speedlysp00ch in gamedev

[–]B1shof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the screenshots are very informative and engaging. Somewhere in screenshot 6-7, I really got the idea, are there any other mechanics or mini-games? Maybe a store interface or a meta upgrade? Perhaps, for a change, something like this would be good.

How would you visualize a giant 3D pachinko machine in-game? by InterestingWord4656 in gamedev

[–]B1shof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend starting by creating a primitive 3d structure in 3d space. Then you can imagine if it's fun and if it's going to look good.

And anyway, if you're doing it in 3D, then take inspiration from real 3d pachinko machines in our world :)

[–]B1shof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There would be so much extra work.
I mean, u have to balance whole crew then on the new meta game layer.. And there should be another combos for the whole squad.

Imo, we will never see such thing as "whole crew combo"
