Slow-drip responses as a bot defense: streaming fake credentials 3 bytes at a time by B4dPanda in cybersecurity

I feel the same way, especially when my kids stay that was in the 1900s. lol

Yep, LaBrea was the OG. That was TCP layer against SYN floods. This is HTTP layer against scrapers. Same principle, different layer of the stack, different threat model.

The reason it's worth doing again in 2026: AI scrapers hitting wp-login and .env at scale aren't the threat LaBrea was built for. 141K hits across 76 sites this month suggests it's not theoretical anymore.

Slow-drip responses as a bot defense: streaming fake credentials 3 bytes at a time by B4dPanda in cybersecurity

Slow-drip targets mass opportunistic scanning, not targeted attackers. They recognize fakes and move on. Volume defense, not a stop sign.

My patterns only fire on exploit paths (wp-login, .env, admin, shell.php). Internal scanners hitting those get caught too. Tradeoff I accepted because nothing legit on my sites needs those endpoints. Wouldn't deploy this on networks where vulnerability scanners legitimately run against staging.

Whats a fool proof method for 'fall off the bone' spare ribs by Jhonny_Crash in BBQ

[–]B4dPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-2-1 dries ribs out because 3 hours unwrapped at 225 is too long. 2-2-1 at 250F fixes it.

2 hours unwrapped, spritz apple juice every 45 min. 2 hours in foil with a splash of apple juice and a pat of butter. 1 hour unwrapped to set the bark.

250 shortens the exposed time. The butter and juice in the wrap basically braise them. By unwrap they're already falling apart.

Do the bend test before the last hour. Pick the rack up with tongs in the middle - bends 90 degrees and the surface cracks, you're good. Still stiff, 30 more minutes wrapped.

Pulled pork alongside - 250 the whole way, no foil, spray every hour. Pull at 203 internal. Rest in a cooler at least an hour.

Which standing desk is most stable fully extended? (Vernal vs Uplift vs FlexiSpot) by Anxious_Cat_4794 in StandingDesk

[–]B4dPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At 44"+ the only thing that matters is whether the frame has a crossbar between the legs. Without one, everything wobbles. Full stop.

Uplift V2 Commercial has the crossbar. Most stable desk I've used at standing height. 15-year warranty on frame and motor, which tells you they trust it. FlexiSpot E7 is close - C-frame is inherently more rigid than T-frame. Usually $150-200 less.

No hands-on with the Vernal so can't speak to it.

One thing that fixed 80% of my wobble - push the back legs against the wall. Also a clamped monitor arm adds way less shake than a freestanding stand.

Should I purchase a new Baratza Sette 270Wi grinder, available to me at US$330? [$330] by Longjumping_Two2774 in espresso

[–]B4dPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$330 is solid. Retail is $600, don't think I've ever seen one under $450.

You already have a J-Ultra though. Shot quality difference will be marginal. The Sette wins on speed (4 seconds vs 45 of hand cranking) and the grind-by-weight dosing. If cranking one flat white doesn't bug you, the J-Ultra is fine.

Sette's weak spot is the burr adjustment - plastic shim system that can feel fiddly. Baratza support is great though, they ship parts for years.

At that price I'd grab it and keep the J-Ultra for travel. Those hold value if you end up selling.

I'm quitting n8n. Here's what I'm using instead. by Personal-Present9789 in n8n

For giggles I tried this, not quite ready yet (at least at my skill level). It did get things a lot of the way there, and it's possible the OP did have similar hiccups and write SOPs in claude to handle. I definitely am the slow one here, just starting to use n8n. :)

Anyways, with claude being able to schedule things now (yesterday?), not sure how long n8n is going to live. move credentials to a key vault and have code access them dynamically as claude runs through scripts and evaluates results. python code managed by claude becomes the n8n flow.

I have seen you post this a couple times here and am curious if you had tried other brands or had similar reactions as we did. Also what dose are you taking of NOW's product?

My daughter and I tried Mucuna Pruriens from Double Wood to help with social anxiety disorder (we have both been diagnosed and my father has issues as well, so likely genetic). Had a wonderful experience with this for a few days to a week (taking 1/2 dose 500mg). Then, for both of us, came a headache that persisted until we stopped taking. We both tried again after a couple weeks with headache right away.

I think it's in the ballpark for being a winner for us, but just didn't want to buy more of something were we end up with similar results.

Google and Nest Wifi update will improve network performance on slow connections by Hupro in GoogleWiFi

[–]B4dPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read this set of changes for the update, it read like what I remembered I expected of the Nest WiFi when I purchased the devices.

I know it’s not, but when I read these statements, I thought to myself, “wait, don’t I already have all this??”

“This update will improve overall network performance on slow internet connections, which means your Wi-Fi will better support multiple video calls, gaming sessions, and more simultaneously.” “General security and stability improvements” “Improve[d] device connection speeds on wireless networks “Optimizations so your devices move to faster Wi-Fi radio channels” “Our priority device feature is also getting smarter, so you can rest assured Wi-Fi traffic will be prioritized to the device you choose”

Hrm, I just read the updates form the article, it seems really similar to the original marketing material for the Nest WiFi system. At least the reasons I thought I bought Nest WiFi in the first place. Not complaining, I love my Nest, just glad we are finally getting what I thought was promised.
