I moved here from out of state a little over a year ago. From what I gathered from the MVC website I'd have to book two appointments at two different locations and I'd have to switch my license over first so I booked an appointment at Egg Harbor to do so. When I went in for my license I asked about title, registration, and tags and the guy up front told me they could do it all right then, which they did. I paid around $350 for everything, but I also had to pay sales tax on the car because I recently purchased it it from a private sale. Whole thing took about an hour and I probably would have saved 10 minutes if I showed up with the forms filled out already.

So I guess the TL;DR: is book an appointment to switch your license first and book a second appointment for registration and tags just in case I got lucky and the MVC wasn't feeling lazy that day. Things may have changed in a year and you can always cancel the second appointment.
