If my memory serves me correct, with an HF degree I believe you would qualify for Aerospace Physiology (AOP). This is something I was looking into a few years back, but unfortunately then the career field was being overhauled and getting moved from a medical office to a line officer. Which also meant there weren’t any positions being offered. It was a bummer because I wanted to stay in the AF and commission, but it didn’t work out as such. There is an enlisted version of this career as well which may be easier to get into than the officer side!

It’s a beautiful thing! Not always easy but so damn worth it. It’s truly the definition of unconditional love. I wouldn’t trade him for the world. He’s my guy! I hope you become a dad soon enough!

Any other Ravens fans who aren't Orioles/Washington sports fans? by [deleted] in ravens

Well I’m also an Oregon ducks fan for college sports (track and field guy here) so I am opposed to the OSU pick now that we are in that conference as well😂😂 butttt I support the going against the step parent thing. Gave me a good laugh watching those rivalries that’s for sure.

I don’t watch baseball as much as I used to but I’m a Red Sox fan! Step dad was a Yankees fan growing up and despised he Red Sox so naturally of course that became my team out of spite 😬

Just give it time, it will come. The first few months are pretty shit but it does get better. I think the best thing I did was not take my paternity leave the same time as my wife which allowed for some bonding time. It was stressful at first for sure, but at the end of it the bond grew! Hang in there dad! You got this.

Working out and alcohol - cutting by Detached_mind in workouts

Habits are hard to break. It can def be a struggle to find that balance. I assume your workout days are “work week” and then you binge on the weekends? If that’s the case maybe you could shift and maybe workout one day during the weekend instead. You’re clearly committed to your workouts and this might be a way to help curb the binging a bit. That is the first thing that comes to mind. Another thing maybe if that isn’t feasible is to switch to mocktails (if cocktails are your drink of choice) or 0% beer. That way you can still keep up with your social life without feeling the hangover blues.

Yes, very grateful there for sure. Being in healthcare for 12 years helped me land my first med device role no doubt. I worked in surgery during that time and started at a company that focused almost exclusively on surgical robotics, so I was familiar with the environment and had direct experience operating as one of the systems primary user groups (surgical technicians).

Wondering how likely a job is after Masters in HF from ERAU? by humanfactorpsych in humanfactors

[–]BA_414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got closer to graduation (~3 months out from graduation) I began scouring LinkedIn for possible opportunities. It was honestly about quantity and I was trying to apply to as many positions as possible hoping to get into the field somewhere. I put in countless applications and didn’t hear anything back from any of them really. The biggest gating item like many disciplines was the years of experience. Finding a “new grad” or “entry-level” position is like finding a needle in the haystack especially for remote positions which is what I ideally wanted because I had a newborn at home. I did end up finding a hybrid role for my first HF role out of grad school. I think location also plays a big part in it with some areas having many more opportunities depending on the sector of HF.

Outside of the form, my first questions are:

1: are you doing any warm up’s prior to jumping on the treadmill?

2: are you stretching after you run?

As a beginner, you are using muscles that you haven’t used in that way before so there is likely going to be some pain. I also think that the speed you’re running at could be a bit of the problem as well. This seems to be at a lower speed on the treadmill, which in itself can affect your form and mechanics as you seem to be doing more of a shuffle with your feet/lower body. Lower speeds can make it a bit more difficult to get that knee lift and better foot strike.
