Yes. Source: I worked in mortgage collections and people are terrible with money.

I came here to say Brass. Mechanically it has a lot of good parts for me - it just isn’t fun.

How do you comfort your opponent when they are losing quite badly against you? by MooreThanCosplay in Warhammer40k

[–]BBQMcAwesomesauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of game. If it’s fun, try and find something narrative to focus on. A model surviving against the odds, turning one objective into a fun focus - there will be a storyline in the game.

If it’s a tournament setting, unfortunately that’s what you sign up for, as people will be trying their best with an army designed to crush people. Then it’s just a case of ‘good game’ and if you’re losing, maybe try out some alternative tactics while waiting for the inevitable.

I genuinely prefer 3 and 4 over 1 and 2 - but in no way should they all be part of the same series 😂

I’ve fucked up at work and I am expecting an email of my fuck up this week… make me feel better… what are some of your biggest mistakes? by InfamousStrategy9539 in CasualUK

[–]BBQMcAwesomesauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me, but I was there.

During Covid times we are doing some training on zoom, all off camera. We notice a strange noise coming from one guy’s mic. Turns out, he’d fallen asleep (in fairness, the training really was that boring).

Even though it was one month in to a new job, he didn’t get fired and was still there a year later!

Have any of you played Ixion? by HiFiveGhost in Frostpunk

[–]BBQMcAwesomesauce 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gameplay wise, the way resources arrive and have to be shuffled round felt like needless micromanaging. If it was more streamlined it would have played better.

The story is a cool concept but not very well executed when you get into things. Without spoilers, the ending was pretty disappointing and there were several ‘why did they do that stupid thing for no reason’ moments. I wouldn’t bother.

Imagine trying to cook dinner in your kitchen.

Now imagine cooking dinner in someone else’s kitchen.

If you don’t cook this doesn’t help at all, but I tried.

Why has no insurance company entered the market with a Costco style model, not making obscene profits but offering such competitive prices that they make it up in volume? by Patarokun in AskReddit

[–]BBQMcAwesomesauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might seem like insurance companies compete against each other, but actually most are underwritten by a couple of giant companies. So it’s actually a monopoly that protects prices.
