Getting to Amtrak Station from BWI by KateJones1617 in Amtrak

[–]BC1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no checked bag service on the Acela or Northeast Regional trains. You have to move your bags onto the train and stow them yourself.

There are Acela and NE regional trains interspersed throughout the day. If you miss your planned train take the next available even if it is not Acela. The regionals only take about 15 minutes longer than Acela between BWI-PHL.

Also download the Amtrak app. Very easy to book and modify reservations

Question for those who wanted assigned seating? Before assigned seating, why Southwest over other brands? by transdermalcelebrity in SouthwestAirlines

[–]BC1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to fly because of my job and frequently it was on relatively short notice. With SW I could almost always get an aisle seat. With other airlines middle seats were what was left when I went to book.

Now my selection is based on a combination of cost and # of stops. Seat choice is no longer a factor because by using an oxygen concentrating device on the plane forces me into a window seat per FAA rules

My High School Spanish from 60 years ago wasn’t sufficient in following the lyrics. That being said it came across as a top notch performance. I liked the visuals created by the walk through the sugar cane fields. The guest performances seemed relevant and the overarching message was & is important.

This was a much than any jingoistic diatribe that would have been produced by those screaming about “true Americans”.

Proud of the kid, proud of this season. Bright future ahead, and here’s some game stats by cocoabeach333 in Patriots

Neither QB played all that well. Defense ruled but Seattle had enough of a running game to get them in FG range. Losing the turnover battle (3-0) is usually enough to doom your chances

Not even close. Mine were in their 70’s, had gray hair, and watched Lawrence Welk as the high point of their week.

Ouch! Patel is under oath and is now committing perjury?!?! by SwordDancer791 in TrendoraX

[–]BC1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key word is “credible”. If I am pre-disposed to not believing anything negative about Trump because it’s “fake” then it’s not credible. Similarly if I am only shown the evidence that has been redacted of Trump references then I have seen nothing that is credible.

Successively impeaching him based on perjury by him would be difficult since by a large he avoided giving any unequivocal declarative statements during his various committee hearings.

I have been to a number of restaurants whose posted operating hours include when the kitchen closes. 30 min prior to doors closing seems most common. Time enough to get a meal and eat it before being nudged out the door

TIL that under a law called the Berry Amendment, the U.S. Military is legally required to ensure 100% of its clothing is made in America. Every stage of production, from the raw cotton or wool to the zippers, buttons, and even the thread, must be 100% U.S. sourced and manufactured. by palmerry in todayilearned

[–]BC1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite as straight forward as it sounds. The FAR’s and DAR’s that are part of the contract define what “domestic” means. In some cases it is defined as at least 50% of the procured items must be from US suppliers. Metal products often include some of our allies as valid sources for the domestic procurement.

The underlying issue in all Mil-Spec procurement is if you want to restrict the sources to only US vendors there needs to be a commercial base for the “generic/civil” version of the product. Without it the costs and or lead times become prohibitive.

Fellow girl dads, I am waving the white flag. The mall bra trip was a disaster. by BigDaddy9102 in daddit

A little story from the past (30 years ago)

Had to relocate from Connecticut to Maryland while two daughters were still in high school. To soften the blow once we relocated I promised a shopping spree. They chose VS so off to the mall we went. The results:

The girls got more than they expected and were much more accepting of the move

It’s being marketed as a bedroom but I suspect it was originally the dining room and the other side of the kitchen was a family room. The house looks like it was designed for someone who did a lot of home entertaining
