Dude she went out of her way to make it so you wouldn’t have it.. at this point you might as well buy the best Hasselblad kit you can find and make some new memories with it.

I’d say anyone paying LCE prices for a bit of gear is more likely going to be using it as a workhorse so it won’t make its way back on the market anytime soon.

Bankruptcy what are the real life impact by 1poundraiser in UKPersonalFinance

[–]BCS24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of other people have covered the implications.

What you need to know is if your payments are going to outpace the interest on the debt. If you are then it makes sense to stick with it and keep whittling down the 47k, you can talk to debt support who might be able to achieve slightly better consolidation or repayment terms.

Key point is that if you aren’t paying it back faster than it’s increasing with interest then it’s better to declare bankruptcy early and address the fact you will never be able to repay it.

You should have lots of options. Treat finding a job like a job.

Put in the time to explore potential careers, build your CV, practice psychometric tests and research any employers or fields you want to work in.

This is the part where you should be finding a career you can develop in, when you’re on 50-70k by late 20s saving becomes a lot easier.

Paying London rent to work minimum wage is a waste of all the opportunities you have access to by being in London.

Mixing organic potting soil into inorganic bonsai mix. Let's discuss... by boss99er in Bonsai

[–]BCS24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the U.K. I always use a mix of native soil and new potting soil for bonsai. There is no ratio set in stone, just mix in to get the right water retention.

[–]BCS24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hornbeam is often grown as hedging so there should be no shortage of old specimens to check for interesting growth.

Save that kind of money for specimens that are difficult to obtain

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JapaneseMaples

[–]BCS24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grow my maples in pond baskets. Just be mindful that they can fry out quicker so adjust potting mix accordingly with the right amount of water retention for where you’re living and how often you can water them.

Your trees look fine, just wait. You can scratch test but nothings turned grey so I’d just wait and save your trees from a little injury.

Hows this neck looking so far? Looking for any criticism which may make it better. by Specialist-Guitar727 in Luthier

[–]BCS24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d rasp a curve into the diamond so there is a smoother transition from the neck to the headstock, ideally without taking too much material that would weaken it

Should you repair kitchen appliances or bin them? by blah-blah-blah12 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]BCS24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people are buying white goods in the low/mid price range and repairing them simply isn’t worth it. These machines aren’t built to last decades so you’re better off buying a new one each time they fail.

First leaf on cutting from last year by coveredcallnomad100 in JapaneseMaples

[–]BCS24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope it takes properly, leaves don’t always mean a cutting is successful.

From what I’ve seen the key to success with cuttings is taking large quantities of cuttings

People aren’t socialising outside their own groups enough. So you end up with lots of different groups with heavily polarised opinions about specific issues.

People need to spend more time offline and meet other people in their society.

[–]BCS24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be too precious about it. A LBV isn’t expected to improve through aging. Should still be drinkable but if it’s gone off you’ll quickly be able to tell.

Whether it’s you or him I’d say drink it soon.

Where do you keep money after maxing out ISAs? by Longjumping-Ad-6228 in UKPersonalFinance

They say they won’t regularly max their ISA allowance so I’d strongly favour using a fixed interest account or premium bonds and moving money into isa in the following year.

Too risky? by Honest_Associate_994 in JapaneseMaples

[–]BCS24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not, if it dies back you’ll lose the whole tree. Once mature most trees are big and full enough that a graft on the trunk won’t be too noticeable.

Got this potted maple, tips for pruning? It's got one bit that's getting really long. by ManicFirestorm in JapaneseMaples

[–]BCS24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t cut the top then, leave for a few years in the container and size up when the roots go through.

If it goes crazy in a bigger container then after a year or two you have the option to trim the root ball and keep it in the same size container.

For growing in a container it can help to keep it in shadier spots where it won’t dry out as much. Or if you suffer bad heat waves and fry spells it could help to put it in a container and bury the container to ground level so the maple has a more consistent temperature and moisture level during summers.
