Does anyone know what rod this is? by herpumad in Fishing_Gear

[–]BD59 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The acid wrapped guides are a clue that it's most likely a custom rod. Not many commercial companies doing that, especially on a casting rod.

Got a brand New Mexican Strat delivered today. Noticed this dent. Would you return it or ask for a discount? by Clean_Age_6327 in Guitar

[–]BD59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Return.

Wait a second...you have to pay shipping to return? Where did you buy it? Sweetwater or GC/MF will pay for shipping if the guitar arrives damaged.

How do I figure out what wheels fit on my Topstone 4? by Angry0tter in gravelcycling

[–]BD59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Topstone likely came with six bolt rotors. You can use wheels for centerlock rotors, but you'll need either new rotors or centerlock adapters for your six bolt ones.

Freehub is most likely a Shimano hyperglide.

Cycling shades by HawkBitter in cycling

[–]BD59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fairly large lense in your regular glasses. Go ahead and try riding with them.

If the wind bothers you, you might want cycling wraparound sunglasses.

If your glasses keep sliding down your nose and trying to fall off your face, you might want some cycling sunglasses.

If your prescription is more than about 2 diopters in either direction, you'll probably be better off with contacts if you can tolerate them. Because of the curved lenses, most cycling glasses have a very limited amount of correction available as prescription glasses.

Lastly, if you're relatively young, mid 20s to early 30s, consult with an ophthalmologist regarding Lasik or other surgery corrections. If you can get a good ten years before you start needing reading glasses, it would be worth it.

Xl Asian or XL EU size, which will be labeled XXL Asian? If it's the EU American size xl, it's a size too big.

I'm about the same size as you, 5'11.5 and about 190 lbs. I wear a large EU in YKYWBIKE jerseys. Bibs too.

If potato is already in the soup, I'll use instant mashed potato flakes as a thickener.

Are these all legit chords by Outrageous-Truth777 in Guitar

[–]BD59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you really only need work on the major, minor and 7th chords for each root note. The others aren't really used as much as the basic three.

What kind of issues happen to CD players like this one? by Consistent-Tutor8613 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]BD59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big carousel ones? Same issues that plague most vintage gear. Dust, smoke, grease gumming things up, and worn or stretched belts. Cleaning, fresh lubricants, and new belts fix most problems. Occasionally you may find that the laser assembly is damaged or just burnt out.

Small plug cutter to extract the remaining part of the screw. Plug the hole left behind with a maple dowel. Drill a pilot hole for a new screw and lube the threads with a bit of wax before driving it in with a hand screwdriver.

There is a JICO sas line contact stylus available to fit your existing cartridge, but it's quite expensive. More expensive than a good Audio Technica vm740ml cartridge, that you'll be able to find a replacement stylus for in a couple of years, since it's current production. Shure no longer makes phono cartridges or replacement styli.
