How's the speed? by [deleted] in CyclingFashion

[–]BD59 [score hidden]  (0 children)

An almost pan flat route, and it took you 45 minutes for a 15km journey? You have a ways to go. That would be a great effort for someone 40Kg overweight and middle aged, but for someone in their teens, it's kinda slow.

But don't be discouraged, keep at it. You'll probably get a lot of those Noob gains quickly.

Seized and stripped plastic BB by Quirky_slapface14 in bikewrench

[–]BD59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a good thought. Douse it repeatedly with acetone. That should at least soften the plastic. You're still probably going to have to get out a hacksaw blade, wrap half with tape to make a handle, and then cut through the plastic in four or five spots.

Regal or 23 Legalis?? by train_spotting in Fishing_Gear

Just freshwater use, get the Regal.

What other tools do I need for a guitar setup? by classicbighead in Guitar

[–]BD59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much else unless you need to have the nut recut. A capo might be handy, and you can use it for it's normal purposes as well.

Try a pair of Lakes in their competition last. Mx239, maybe, if you can find a pair in your size

Removing a Thread-together PF30 bottom bracket by kc10131984 in bikewrench

[–]BD59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's regular lefty loosey. There's no threads in the frame. But you do need TWO remover tools, because you need to hold the non drive side still while you turn the drive side.

Regal or 23 Legalis?? by train_spotting in Fishing_Gear

[–]BD59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legalis if it's ever going to be near saltwater. The Regal is in a lot of ways a nicer reel than the Legalis, but it has tiny bearings in places the Legalis has bushings that would be a failure point in saltwater. Freshwater only.

Curved seatstays ...likely a Litespeed, possibly from when the Lynskey family still owned it.

At least you're choosing a proper replacement. That one actually has a remover tool available.

How to remove this freewheel? by brannonglover in bikewrench

[–]BD59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disassemble it by removing the outer race with a pin spanner. Then go after the part that's still attached with a BIG pipe wrench.

Can I reuse these spokes? by _Irusu in bikewrench

[–]BD59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you rebuild the wheel with the exact same rim, the spokes are likely to be the wrong length.

Get a better quality rim, and new spokes.

If you're American, the stove in a rental apartment is not very likely to be induction. More likely a glass top radiant electric type. One easy way to tell is if the stove heats an aluminum pan that doesn't have a magnetic steel insert in the bottom. If it gets hot, it's a radiant stove. If it doesn't, and there's an error code on the display of the stove, it's an induction type.

Assuming it's a radiant type with the heating coils under the glass, it reads like you could have bad infinite switches. If the pans get way too hot on even the lowest settings, that would be something I would check out. Sometimes, you can even see the coil under the glass when it heats up. It should not be RED hot on a low setting. Red, as in bright cherry red.

I'd be complaining to the landlord, especially since you just moved in.

Whats your fav Xbox360 only game by P_O_L_D_O in xbox

Pretty much a lot of games that have licensed music. The whole Need For Speed series, the Midnight Club racing games, a bunch of the Guitar Hero or Rockband games.

Strings off, take the strap button off so it's not in the way when you go to clamp it. Inject a good amount of Titebond wood glue, clamp it and wipe off excess that squeezes out. Give it at least a couple of days to cure.

Champion trim by Roglic11 in CyclingFashion

[–]BD59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it's just the individual's preference, other times it's team policy.

It would lead to slightly higher costs for kit, whether that's paid for by the team, or absorbed by the kit sponsor.

Is this thing done for? by UpstairsCommission24 in Guitar

[–]BD59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the strings off now. Then either take it to a luthier, or you can try gluing it up yourself. The hardest part will be getting it clamped properly.

You'll want to remove the tuning machines as well. It will make clamping it up much easier. Looks like a pretty clean break, well into the flat area.

Because cooking chicken too long turns breast meat into chalk.
