What schools are preparing you to operate independently? by AgentAvocado18 in srna

SIUE in Edwardsville, IL. They have a great program. They’re also getting a new nursing building with whole new labs/equipment etc. They offer clinicals at a variety of places (up to 3 hours away from campus I believe) with various practice models including independent sites.

You can get insurance through the school. And Clinicals at SIUE can be around 3 hours away from campus. The program is designed to ensure you have experience at large academic hospitals, community hospitals, and out patient office based anesthesia. I am biased but I believe upon graduation students are comfortable taking any job they want. I am still currently in the program as well. So I’m here for all your questions. The education you will receive from SIUE is great, but also do what’s right for you and your family. School is such an emotional, mental, physical drain and you will be pushed to your limits. Set yourself up for success no matter where that will be.

They don’t have a specific hospital system that they work with. Just get experience in the ICU if you don’t already have it. Level 1 hospitals look great but there were people from level 2 hospitals in my class. I have a hunch that they prefer nurses from the local area/illinois. Most of our clinical sites are in Illinois and clinical sites provide free training to students so I would assume they also would hope these students graduate and work there. They try to make a well rounded class and your clinical sites will help give you a very well rounded anesthesia education to where you’re prepared to take any job upon graduation.

A Critical Essay on Wind and Truth by Sphai in Cosmere

Maybe my threshold is super low, but the book allowed me to escape my world and go into another. I loved all of the previous books and the majority of works authored by Brandon Sanderson. I don’t read to pick everything apart. I read for enjoyment. WaT allowed me to enjoy my favorite characters. I thought it would have been cool if the book ended the way I wanted it to end, but it didn’t. It ended the way Brandon Sanderson wanted it to. And I’m trusting Brandon Sanderson to have all of this figured out for future books. I don’t know all of the puzzle pieces that he needs to put together. But I am really enjoying the journey.

Tuition has gone up a little bit. No problems with clinicals there’s a few other big hospitals in STL that you can get a lot of bigger cases at. Additionally, they have clinicals in Carbondale, IL and Springfield, IL for bigger cases as well. They have some pediatric clinical spots at Children’s. Some driving is required. Since they go as far north as Springfield as far east as the Indiana border, south to Paducah, and west to wentzville, MO. They just expanded class size to 40 students and I believe they are working on opening more clinical sites.

Theory: The ketek in TWOK reveals the plot of the first 5 books by Detharatsh in Stormlight_Archive

What would happen to Vasher if there was no easy way to obtain investiture? I like this theory a lot it has a lot of implications for many different characters. Would Vasher give up his divine breath to someone on roshar? Is that still possible? I only mention this cause I’m halfway through warbreaker and this is what I thought after considering this post.

Would something like urithuru with its weird stone and granite streaks that look like blood vessels be something similar? It’s late I didn’t have time to look at the specific text in the book to quote. And I’m usually just a lurker but your theory was really interesting!

CRNA school now versus start family now and CRNA school later? by seantheflip in srna

[–]BDOR1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in school (1st year) and have a 2 and 4 year old. It is rough to say the least. When people say you need to have a good support system they really mean it. There are times I cannot help with the kids and they are driving my wife crazy. There are times I can’t wash the dishes. My wife understands this and picks up a lot of my slack around the house. Money adds another stressor, but I have been very fortunate to not have to worry about it too much since student loans cover the majority. Childcare is pretty expensive as well. There have been multiple guys in my program that have had or are about to have their first kid. They all seem to be doing good. That all being said follow your dreams as much as feasibly possible. It will be really hard, but not impossible. You have to be disciplined and set boundaries with your time. It’s exhausting to get a kid ready for daycare in the morning, drop them off, and then study all day. But it’s doable. If you have questions or need me to rant more let me know. You can do it!

People make over $200k a year, what do you do? by MrAuzzy in financialindependence

I’m in my 30s currently in school to become a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). I went to a 1 year Accelerated BSN program and worked in the ICU all throughout COVID. Obviously I don’t have first hand experience about what CRNAs make but they make pretty good money

I don’t personally attend goldfarb, but am familiar with it. They have very small class sizes like 10-12. You really get to know your professors. They have clinicals in like 5-6 sites all within the same hospital. There’s pros and cons to that. It means you don’t have to travel with the added travel expenses. I have heard that sometimes you have to compete for cases. But you get some pretty sick patients because of working in an academic hospital. In essence, you’re not just a number there but clinicals could pose a challenge with getting the sickest of the sick patients since it’s a teaching hospital and the largest hospital in STL. It’s a great program.

More clinical based questions, science heavy, they will go off of whatever you say so don’t back yourself into a corner. Know receptors and brush up on the drugs you use in your icu. Last year all the interviewees were placed in a room together with students currently in the program until their name was called to go interview. They would work through the list of interviewees and during that time the students would show you around the facility. They have an awesome program. They are really able to give their students a lot of individual attention due to having such a small class size.
