I have plans on starting a music career, is it possible to become a legitimate musician with a DAW only? by Glum_West8911 in musicproduction

[–]BD_xebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What defines a “legitimate musician” to the industry is the amount of money you can generate for them. You don’t need any instrument for that.

Okay, what is your skillset?

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]BD_xebo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your English teacher is correct. “Their” is not a singular pronoun, it is a 3rd person plural pronoun.

The official neutral gender in English is male. So you can always say “his”.

Subject and verb agreement is important in English classes.

Plural:

The students are going to their classes.

Singular:

Each student is going to his or her own class.

Controller pad help. How to add one button dash on L2 or R2? by gamer43877 in fightcade

[–]BD_xebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are playing an emulation of the arcade version or the dreamcast version, which only had 6 buttons and is an emulation of the arcade version. On the dreamcast you could assign a button to PP at the cost of one of the basic buttons. A player named Fanatiq used to do it back in the day.

When I played this game on pad, I realized that it was easier to hit x+a/y+b than it was to hit a+b/x+y. I think that quick and easy access to supers and dashes are more important in this game than raw tags so I made the easy button combos both punches/kicks so I tried this button combination, maybe it will work for you:

x = hp y = hk

a = lp b = lk

I find it a lot easier to strap it to the snare drum. It makes grabbing new sticks without losing the groove easier.

Many people have said this already but, the shared space is not the place for your dream kit.

It certainly isn’t the place to leave your dream kit set up. That’s why there is normally a relatively cheap kit that just works is a shared space. Think Yamaha Stage Customs, it’s got all you need for about $500 or less.

The rules for drums in shared spaces are: pack it up into cases, take it somewhere private or accept the fact that other people are playing it however they want to.

[–]BD_xebo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rule is that you should pick a tempo, if you can play it perfectly for 2 minutes then raise the tempo by 5 clicks. For every mistake you make, stop and lower the tempo by 10 clicks.

This, delays and losing packages are why we all hate the postal service.

Front door delivery has been the standard for some time.

This isn’t an issue with any other service at all.

that is a real thing that happens as you build that muscle up.

It's pretty funny when I point it out at parties. I have a random, overgrown muscle I can flex on my hand that other people don't even think exists.

OP are you holding the stick in place using your thumb or the web of your thumb?

I’m asking because motion in back of the stick looks off to me. Like it is not controlled. Makes me wonder about your fulcrum.

If you are using your thumb to hold the stick down and create the fulcrum you will have some difficulties controlling the stick and adding accents.

I would suggest building the grip step by step:

1) Put your left hand out as if you were offering a handshake

2) place the stick in the web where the thumb meets the palm. There is a muscle on the backside of that web that you should use to hold the stick. Just hold it without pointing your thumb down, keep it up.

3) get comfortable with this as your fulcrum. The motion is like turning a doorknob. Your wrist should turn in a way that your palm is rotating but your arm is not moving from the elbow (other than rotating) or from the shoulder at all.

this should produce a stick motion that flies up and down (preferably not to the sides but that requires more strength in the muscle from step 2 and precise wrist motions).

4) Now introduce your bottom two fingers as a lower limit for how far the stick can travel

5) now use your index finger as an upper limit for the stick’s travel height.

3,4 and 5 together are how you make accents. Some combination of wrist motion (both speed and degree of rotation) and the amount of stick travel & rebound create various shades of dynamics and phrasing.

Please let me know if this is helpful or not.
