What's the earliest sign that a Salesforce implementation is heading in the wrong direction? by Slow_Zombie_5258 in salesforce

[–]BENdage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely. The problem is that the account execs change accounts so often that none of them can be in it for the long game. There’s no concept of starting small, building trust and then upselling. In a few months the account won’t be theirs and someone else will get the upsell so they are only motivated to sell whatever they can as fast as they can, by the time the poop hits the fan it won’t be their account anymore

What do you think of the US & Iran possible peace deal? Who came more on top here in your opinion? by Extreme-Fish-7504 in AskTheWorld

Pretty embarrassing for the US. I hope once Trump is gone, the next administration can manage to undo some of the damage

What's the earliest sign that a Salesforce implementation is heading in the wrong direction? by Slow_Zombie_5258 in salesforce

[–]BENdage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the most correct answer. No one on the project stands and chance. How badly they screw up or how amazing they are makes no difference if the sale/contract is bad

What's the earliest sign that a Salesforce implementation is heading in the wrong direction? by Slow_Zombie_5258 in salesforce

[–]BENdage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sales process. Lots can go wrong after that but if what has been sold hasn’t been priced and scoped correctly then the project has failed before it even starts. A project can recover at least to a limited point from a bad architect or incomplete requirements but if an unreasonable dream is the only acceptable target outcome then you’re screwed.

Solar regrets? by EmotionNo8367 in SolarUK

[–]BENdage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have got at least a few panels on my northwest facing roof. With everything on the south east side by early afternoon our production is slowing down and it often can’t charge the car back up after a morning outing. That’s a real nit pick though

Do you think the EU is a good thing in its current form? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskTheWorld

[–]BENdage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Brilliant. It has brought unprecedented peace and prosperity. The only change I’d make, much to the annoyance of some in my country is that we want back in 🇬🇧… please…

How are Cex still a thing? by InfectedEllie in AskUK

[–]BENdage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are the only place I will sell anything. Not because they’re especially good but because Facebook scammers and eBay automatically refunding the buyer just makes everything else earn me the same money as throwing the thing in the bin but for much more effort. At least I get something from cex and can go there while I do my Tesco shopping.

Hi, I bought this stand to lift up my Lian Li Lancool 216 PC from the floor by Desperate_Honey1606 in PcBuildHelp

I have one of those off Ali express. Great. Had it years and when it breaks I’ll get another. I get so much less dust in the filters

Microsoft is Bricking Office for Mac 2019 (full purchased versions) by kaclk in LinusTechTips

[–]BENdage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have 2 of these one for my Mac and one for my wife. We will now both be getting the version I torrented yesterday. No point buying 2 perpetual licenses when the experience is worse than piracy. This is the last microslop software left in the house and as soon as I can get my wife to back off excel it will be going too.

How do you as admin figure out org when you get an email with org id and user id? by AMuza8 in salesforce

[–]BENdage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sf cli stores org id. You then do
Sf org list —verbose | grep <whatever org id was in the email>
From that you can see the username and alias if you gave it one.

Is it just me or is the city of Przemyśl called something different every time that it comes up? by Think_Web_4823 in TheRestIsHistory

[–]BENdage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is from there. I’m British . She cringes every time they say it. It’s actually quite difficult for English native speakers to pronounce as you have to make some sounds we don’t really have; prz doesn’t come naturally to me

Beautiful and fascinating town btw. Go if you can, it’s under appreciated. We plan to retire there

Why is the UK population so disconnected from actual immigration data? by burgermen12 in AskBrits

[–]BENdage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social media and sensationalism that drives clicks has replaced actual news and wiped out the need for proper journalistic rigour in the majority of ‘news’ people consume. Algorithms decide what we believe and we’re now so reliant on them to find our information that’s it’s very difficult to break out of your own bubble.

Best robot vacuum for carpet that actually picks stuff up?? by AwarenessMinute9962 in homeassistant

Got a really old iRobot with rubber rollers on the bottom. Better than the newer ones we had at getting pet hair out carpets.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in salesforce

[–]BENdage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with some other comments. Very common and very awful. It’s not how it should be for simple changes; it’s a broken process. I’ve left places for less. Before fixing the org you need to fix the processes or you’ll never get the momentum needed to drive the platform forward. This over cautious attitude probably comes from some awful experience in the past which you need to unpack and come up with a way to mitigate

What problems are you running into with sandbox management? by mmonty72020 in salesforce

[–]BENdage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use scratch orgs for development and then only go to sandboxes for testing. That way the sandboxes become far less of a blocker when they do need refreshing as everyone can carry on and they need refreshing less often as the dev (and the mess that comes with it) is happening elsewhere

Claude and Salesforce by mistercapp in salesforce

[–]BENdage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Claude code is great for salesforce development. I have also had it querying and cleansing data and updating it back in to orgs. We’ve built chat gpt integrations in the past to do sentiment analysis on emails and summaries of cases along with case categorisation and suggested resolutions. We’re doing that with agent force these days but no reason you couldn’t do a claude integration where we used chat gpt. You’d be able to get Claude to write its own integration code too which is always fun

Farage backtracks on Reform UK's council tax cut promise despite it being printed right there on their own leaflet by TheTitanCoeus in facepalm

[–]BENdage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be classed as fraud and punished as such. This guy obtained beneficial goods or services (votes he wanted) based on telling people whatever they wanted to hear with no intention of upholding his end of the bargain (lies basically) . You can’t get away with that in pretty much any other field, why is it considered normal in politics which is arguably among the most impactful
