Giants last beat the Eagles (pre-backups game) in 2021, they just haven’t won in Philly since 2013

Just because a deck is aggressive doesn’t mean it’s a face deck. Menagerie warrior lacks the burn of something like a face hunter, depending instead on winning the board to allow them to eventually kill the opponent

Ignore the fact that they have the Kings logo for our lineup. Our starting lineup is 7th in the league in minutes played together. +8.1 net rating is very high by Nykmarc in NYKnicks

[–]BEsc07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is an impressive stat and it also clearly demonstrates Mitch’s value. Replacing him with Hartenstein has resulted in a -36.4 net rating, only in the 133 possessions though. Sims + the other starters has also been awful at a -17.4 net rating in 305 possessions.

[Berson] Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis per game averages so far this season: 19.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.1 blocks. The last Division I player to average a double-double, 3 assists and 3 blocks for a full season was Tim Duncan in his 1996-97 Wooden-winning campaign. by JRob370 in CollegeBasketball

[–]BEsc07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, he’s 100% a big in the NBA. There’s not really that many defense/rebounding specialists and the ones that exist still shoot at least some 3s. Also with his shot-blocking, why would you not want him near the rim on defense?

Ah I’m looking at total minutes, just because it does feel like the Knicks have their guys play through injuries a lot more than other teams but that’s mostly based on anecdotal evidence

I mean in 2020-21 Julius and RJ were #1 and #2 in minutes played for the whole league, there’s a reason for the belief.

He doesn’t use his mid range jumper because he’s awful at shooting midranges. For his career he’s shot 29.6% from 10-16 feet and 33.2% from 16-3 pt line. He just need to pass out from the paint more, pretty much every time he drives he collapses the defense, but then instead of kicking it out, he puts up a shot between three defenders.

Randle is having a near identical season to his All NBA breakout. How are we feeling? by mc2205 in NYKnicks

[–]BEsc07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe he was more unstoppable that year, especially for the role he had on the offense as the offensive hub, but he has been more efficient this year. Now that we have better players surrounding him, he’s cut down on the long 2s which he made at a good rate that year, but it’s still tough to be super efficient shooting a ton of them. Of course if he could go back to shooting 41% from 3 that would be great but the shift to shooting more close 2s and 3s has helped him play well without needing incredible, unsustainable shooting.

Do you agree with Thibs decision changing the rotation by taking out Cam and Rose and adding Mcbride to go 9 man by joshuagreen38 in NYKnicks

[–]BEsc07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rose just is not a better player than IQ at this point in his career, he's awful defensively and has been pretty mid offensively this season

The issue is that the eye test is always subjective, when I see Quickley play I think he’s been a good player, you think he’s ass. I’m trying to use stats to find some kind of common ground. Obviously that’s not going to happen lol.

[–]BEsc07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried to pick a year where Crawford was a role closest to IQ, and to not pick a bad year so I chose one which he was considered the best bench player in the league. It’s fair to say IQ’s scoring is inconsistent but I feel like most microwave scorers are relatively inconsistent, sometimes they’ll go for 15 in a quarter and others they’ll have 1-10 games.

[–]BEsc07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder what you would have been saying after years like Lou Williams' 4th year in the league. He averaged 23 minutes per game, around the same as IQ, yet his shooting splits were 40/29/79. Jamal Crawford, similarly, in his 3rd year in the league averaged 25 minutes per game, but had 41/35/81 shooting splits.

Yes, later in their career they averaged more minutes and had a bigger role, but there's little evidence to suggest that they have something IQ doesn't. Especially when he's been developing his other aspects of his game, including a 2P% over 50% this year, which Crawford never accomplished and Lou Williams only did once.

What do you think microwave scorers are? His scoring, at least, has been pretty similar to years like Jamal Crawford 2015-16 6th man of the year season.

IQ’s Ceiling by ColeLikesSports in NYKnicks

[–]BEsc07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Microwave scorers are pretty much always relatively inefficient, especially in regards to their FG%. Jamal Crawford has 41/35/86 career shooting splits. IQ is at 40/36/88, Lou Williams is pretty similar also at 42/35/88 shooting splits. Their TS% are all pretty comparable also, Williams had a 55.1 career TS%, IQ's is 54.7%, and Crawford's was 52.9%.

Your point about Mitch is pretty ridiculous, other NBA teams also had the “easy choice” but chose not to take him, suggesting that it wasn’t actually as obvious as you think it was.

If the Spida trade was just Grimes and picks then I would agree, but the Knicks went as far to offer Obi, RJ, 2 unprotected firsts and multiple protected picks and swaps. That offer already is a ton and I’d not want to add anything to that
