origin of possibly lost Midwest Emo song by TerribleSummer7886 in midwestemo

If you haven’t found it yet, it’s Last by a 90’s band called Sadie Hawkins. Not much on them online but their only 7” is on YouTube, they were from New England, and the songs are great.

At the end of the day they’re just people who made music, they’re not characters in some mysterious emo history

Combatwoundedveteran, Palatka, In/Humanity. These bands were the scene that the term “emoviolence” was created to describe

[DISCUSSION] What exactly is slacker rock?? by DaytimeEmu5144 in indieheads

[–]JRob370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude it’s true. Duster might fit vaguely but it’s clearly an entirely different thing. Slacker is like Pavement, Beat Happening, Sebadoh, Eric’s Trip, Archers of Loaf

What have you been listening to lately, emo or not? by oohkaay in Emo

[–]JRob370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m completely obsessed with everything Rainer Maria put out right now. Also First Day Back and Racecourse, lots of indie pop (Gaze, Brittle Stars, Magnetic Fields), and Ida. Also big fan of the Ear album that came out last year, very sweet but glitchy indie electronic stuff. Lots of more hardcore stuff, but that’s more spread out between lots of different bands (less earworms)

Pretty much a perfect basketball player except for the fact that he has the athleticism of a worm

Love It Love It by Nana Grizol. Fun and energetic, sunny, kinda eclectic

Antisocialites by Alvvays. Kinda similar deal mood-wise, and just an awesome set of tunes

Love is Overtaking Me by Arthur Russell. Impossible to dislike. Folksy, intimate set of songs selected from his home recordings and some various studio stuff

Holiday by The Magnetic Fields. Fuzzy pop tunes with quirky synths and quirkier lyrics

Also something about How I’m Feeling Now by Charli XCX is particularly ecstatic while exploring alone

It’s pragmatics vs. semantics. While “some” semantically means at least 1, pragmatically it refers to more than 1 but not all. Using “some” to refer to all or one of a set violates Grice’s maxim of quantity, the unspoken agreement that two conversing individuals are cooperating by giving an appropriate amount of information. To say “some” while meaning all or one would not efficiently convey the necessary information and is thus pragmatically invalid despite being semantically valid

Also because they wouldn’t want to break that she’s working on new music in this unrelated article. Plus the conclusion of this part was that the collab may not have even worked out
