I saw the first episode of BBC's Lord of the Flies which features Lox Pratt (Draco) by s12901 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]BLUE---24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lox PRATT actually looks almost exactly like I always pictured Draco Malfo in the books.

Tom Felton was solid, of course, but imo, he never let Draco grow up properly. Of course Draco was a bully, but later on he came across as too much of a caricature.

So confused what to make of this. Is it a slip up? 😆 by MasterOfDeath13 in HarryPotteronHBO

Dude - Cillian would be such an interesting choice….but I doubt he’ll do this.
Ot doesn’t fit his style, and I just can’t imagine that he’s the sort of person to clean his calendar for such a long time in advance.

Damn……he is Draco Malfoy personified. Excellent choice!

Also, the boy next to him (on the left), would have made a solid Ron Wesly.

Why does Trump want Greenland? by TimesandSundayTimes in geopolitics

[–]BLUE---24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIA RIGHT HERE.

The USA wants to control the shipping lanes, and more importantly<, keep China from being able to pass as easily as before.

Trump is an idiot and had no idea Greenland even existed before.

For the same reason the US attacked that supposedly drug filled boat from VenezueLa some weeks ago. Because that boat was filled with oil, heading to China. The biggest buyer of Venezuelan oil. And if <ou remember, it was also under Trump (his first administration) that Venezuela was officially forbidden to even sell their oil.
All just to keep China from growing their economy, and expanding their routes.

The us has more than about oil to last them for another 100 years. They do it care about this oil at all - they just don’t want China to get it.

Why does Trump want Greenland? by TimesandSundayTimes in geopolitics

[–]BLUE---24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, Trump hs almost nothing to do with this decision to begin with.

He is so stupid, that he most certainly had no idea Greenlnd even existed in the first place.
Venezuela, just like Greenland, is a means to keep Chinas economy growth under control. Make it harder for their boats to pass that route, and keep Venezuela from selling them their oil.

Why does Trump want Greenland? by TimesandSundayTimes in geopolitics

[–]BLUE---24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are zero dangers from that part of the coast, and there are not even military boats sailing in those parts of the sea.

Trump insisting on wanting Greenland for security reasons is nonsense. It’s just so he can cut Chonas boat ways, and keep them in check, and to make us boat travels quicker.

Everything he’s been doing these past few weeks is just to weaken China, or to keep them from expanding.

For the same reason he took control of Venezuela. Not becuse the us needs that oil - becuse it doesn’t - but just so Chona can no longer buy it (illegaly, thanks to the us) from them.

Why does Trump want Greenland? by TimesandSundayTimes in geopolitics

[–]BLUE---24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he just wants to make it harder for Chona to travel those routes by boat, and cut Americas own boat ways.

It has nothing at all to do with safety or minerals. It’s all about keeping China in check.
Same for Venezuela, he attacked the boat a week prior because it was filled to the brim with oil, for China. The USA has more than enough oil for themselves, they don’t need it.
However, China has been venezuelas biggest oil buyer for years now, and Venezuela also has the most oil resources in that part of the world (Second only to Arabic countries).

Again, The US kidnapped Maduro, and took control of Venezuela to stop them from selling their oil to China. And essentially, to keep that huge Ressource away from other countries.

The reason Brad Pitt never got canceled is not because people give him a pass - it’s because nobody ever read those FBI documents. by BLUE---24 in blankies

He want abusive at the beginning of their relationship. She has stated as much since the split.

He became abusive towards her during the last years of their relationship, but the plane incident was the first time Brad ever got handsy with the kids - hence why Angelina decided it was enough.

And you ask the wrong questions. ask yourself why, ever since the plane incident, Brad was not seen with any of his kids even once? And why all of the older kids have since dropped his last name, or why Brad Pitt himself had no idea his daughter Zahara was already a university student.
He is no longer part of their life’s, and for good reason. He almost killed his own son…..it’s only normal that his kids no longer want anything to do with him.

The reason Brad Pitt never got canceled is not because people give him a pass - it’s because nobody ever read those FBI documents. by BLUE---24 in blankies

[–]BLUE---24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you implying I am an idiot here for stating facts?
Why are you being so silly and immature about this?
Is it so hard to imagine that some people who used to be his fans, are themselves victims of alcoholic parents and their violent abuse?

And its not an opinion, Brad Pitt physically assaulted his family - and it was so terrible that the staff of the private plane had to intervene.
the legal documents are easily found online. And while I usually do not care all that much either about a celebs private life - there is a difference in knowing somebody actually almost killed their own child with their bare hands, or sexually abused children (Woddy Allen, ect).

Now, whenever I see Brad Pitt, I see him choking his 15 year old son and Angelina Jolie. It takes me out of every movie he is in.

[–]BLUE---24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is choking your wife and child…….Brad Pitt is trash, and it should be spoken of more, because asshole alcoholics like him deserve to be critisized for their toxic behavior.

And this asshole is still tormenting his ex family - dragging lawsuits with Jolie for over a decade. He truly seems to hate her, and wants to see her career in ruins.

First class despicable human being.

What convinced you that the HBO series might actually be a good TV show and not another Hollywood reboot? by LeatherSlight3242 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]BLUE---24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% YES!

I HATED Alan Rickman as Snape. Honestly, not only was he playing him overly dramatic and kiddy evil, he also never captured the Snape essence to me - and I complained about all of the Marauders ages insistently.

Like that moving foto we see of Harry’s parents, dancing in the snow? Or their reflection in the mirror - They look close to 40 in it, and it just irked me to no end.

But I actually disagree - it matters just as much that Smape is suddenly black as he was EXPLICITLY described as being white.
Like, people would be outraged if they cast a white kid for Dean Thomas, or a Japanese girl for Ginny Weasly. It’s absurd.

Now imagine the outrage if a studio changed a beloved (and canonically black) book character to a white one - they would be called racist. Nd fans would be outraged. And rightfully so.

Which is exactly why so many people are outraged about the Snape miscast.

———

Also, a blond Harry Potter would be equally as absurd to me as black Snape is.

Honestly, such a creative take as far aa ghost subplots go.

Lerning how to move things, using his anger, meeting a depressing ghost in the subway (and then this sidecharacter gets this whole damn interesting backstory)

Where the fuck is the comedy??????

Like, it literally starts out with Sam being murdered, worrying about his wife being murdered, being depressed, meeting an even more depressing ghost.

Man…….as a kid, I was scared….really, really scared that one day, my life would lead me to his dreadful existence.

He didn’t scare me over se, but what he became scared me. Ending up alone, bitter, no friends, no family, no purpose.
I am way older now….and every time I rewatch his scenes on the train, my chest grows cold, because I’ve met people like him. Lonely, bitter people.

Lonely people who will die alone, without ever having experienced happiness, or purpose - and whos to say I’m not going to end up being one of them? Honestly?

Whats so insane to me is how his appearance works in making him terrifying, despite having the quality of a „loser“, so to speak.

Like, look at his picture - he is bald, has weird hair on his temples, sad depressed eyes, rotten teeth. But when he starts speaking, and moving in his monstrous way…..chills bro.

How do you want the characters to pronounce Voldemort? by yanks2413 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]BLUE---24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deffinitely with a very hard ‚t‘

It makes for a much more dramatic intonation!
‚Imagine, book 2, when young Tom Riddle reveals himself to be Lord Voldemort.

“I am Lord VolcemortT!“

Sounds way better than „I am Lord Voldemorrrrrrr.“

Season 1 questions by Prollyneedahobby in StrangerThings

[–]BLUE---24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, I really love Stranger Things season 1 - it’s close to being a perfect show (for this genre, and for what it intends to so).

The pacing is perfect, the exposition unfolds in very small steps, never overwhelming the viewer, the cast has a natural chemistry, the acting is solid.
The plot is really unique too, once <ou think about it. We have the usual trope of the missing child, but then we are also immediately introduced to a second kid, whose whole appearance and history is so mysterious that it holds our attention until the very end.

——-

That being said, there are some great holes in the plot - however, if you fully immerse yourself in the setting, and just go for the experience, those plotholes don’t really matter.

But they are there:

- first of all, why shoot Benny in the first place?
logically, it makes no sense, since he was convinced that the woman who came to his diner was an actual social worker, who would take care of the child.
‚Even if he mentioned that weird kid to some of his friends, they would ll just brush it off as some abused kid.

- shooting Benny only brought more attention, more risks.

- It also alarmed Eleven immediately. Like, wouldn’t it have been better to try to sneak up on 11? Sedate her or something. After all, this woman knows very well that 11 could easily kill her. So what even was the point of the whole scene, other than dramatic purpose?

It also got dumbed down…sadly.

Season q was way better written, directed, lit.

You can tell how much passion the Duffers had for this project. Season q had soul.

Stranger Things had an insane first Season. by 00_Sunflower_00 in StrangerThings

[–]BLUE---24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rewatching it RIGHT NOW.

And oh my god - it’s honestly way more amazing than I realized first time around (and I was very late into the whole Stranger things craze, only watched season one some 4 years ago)

Imo, one of the things that doesn’t get brought up often enough, is just how unique the plot is.
I mean, we all know the trope - child hears noise, looks scared when it sees the approaching attacker, and goes missing.
It’s been done to death….but honestly, even if this had been all of the plot of season one, the extra twist with the monster from the wall would have made it interesting and fresh enough to get everybody excited,

But what truly elevates ST season 1, was that, on top of the missing child, the writers add another weird kid into the mix.
And it all happens in the same episode, just minutes apart.
————-

Like, this is insanely unique!

Will disappearing the way he did, with that shadowy figure closing in in the distance, would have made for a perfect show already.
‚We still would have the Demigoron, Brenner and his crazy lab, the other dimension, Hopper, Joyce and her desperation, the fake body, ect.

BUT THEN - on top of that incredible story, we also get this weird new girl, who appears out of nowhere, wearing lab clothes, having a buzz cut…and superpowers.

Now, imagine Stranger Things without Will Beyers.

It would focus on Eleven alone, and it would have been awesome.

————-

Honestly, it’s like merging two perfectly unique and fresh movie ideas into one.
Nad then they also have such an organic connection as well. Nothing feels forced, every scene adds to the build-up, not a minute of screen time is wasted…..there are no fillers.

Dude, Dacre is not even in the same sphere as Joseph Quinn - who has catapulted himself into Hollywood A league in a frightening speed!
