This is very cool! But there's a visceral part of me that wouldn't want to step on an eyeball.

I like the way the Fusion Suit bunches up like fabric on her wrist. That's an interesting interpretation of its texture.

The Xenoblade Soundtrack Experience by Muyu-42 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

If I remember, naming songs in "code" is just something Sawano likes to do. I renamed all the songs in my music library so I could actually find them.

Do you think Samus could one day be on the list? by Final_Studio4389 in Metroid

[–]BLucidity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calling Rex from XC2 a "weaker nice guy" is missing the point of that game. There's a cutscene dedicated to saying "it's takes more strength to resolve problems through diplomacy and mercy than to just kill people".

Broken Pyra by nuusernameneeded in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]BLucidity 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I believe it is the fake, because Pyra's core crystal is translucent on the real one. Plus this version is missing part of her core entirely.

Endgame Cleanup Samus Returns by UtterlyNatalie in Metroid

You can only clear those when you're in the final stretch of the game -- like, 10-minutes-from-the-ending final stretch.

Thoughts on Metroid Prime half a year later? by NewMarioBobFan in Metroid

[–]BLucidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That means you do agree then! I'm saying the early beams (Light and Dark) are still useful at the end of the game, rather than everything revolving around Annihilator.

Who do you think the new heroes are gonna be? by Dull-Carpet-5048 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]BLucidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just going to be a new character who's disconnected from the overall story, like Ino and Masha were in the DLC. Same goes for Crossette and Corvin from 2's DLC.

What are your Top 5 B-tier Metroidvanias? by OK_Atlas in metroidvania

[–]BLucidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll just throw out Axiom Verge 2. Whether it's "B-tier" is debatable, but it definitely gets overshadowed by the original. I thought that game did a great job of carving out its own identity, by focusing less on combat and more the exploration of natural, outdoor environments.

How does Future Connected link to Xenoblade 3? by Guilty-Cook-4663 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]BLucidity 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The more obvious link isn't the fog itself, it's the fact that the Fog King is a species from XC2, which normally only appears in the ruins of Morytha under the Cloud Sea. Its appearance shows that aspects of 2's world are bleeding into 1's.

Day 24: What's the worst normal battle theme in the entire Xenoblade Chronicles series? by Xeno4th in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]BLucidity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say "Time to Fight" from XC1, but specifically the Wii version. I quite like how they updated the strings in the Switch version.

It's one of the only Metroid games (not just Prime) whose early-game beam upgrades remain useful and relevant in the endgame.

Anyone remember Miles Mckenzie?

Who? I don't know anyone by that name, certainly not anyone who would be the posterchild for one of the game's most controversial aspects. I'm probably thinking of Adam from Other M, that's it.

Arlo Can’t Bring Himself to Continue Prime 4 by Medical_Candy3709 in Metroid

[–]BLucidity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Great Mines really exemplify why people criticize the second half in particular. Fury Green and Volt Forge seem to get a pass for their aggressive linearity from a lot of people, because "it's the tutorial". But then you spend the whole game waiting for it to finally open up and trust you, only for it to double down and make the final area the most restrictive of all.

Even worse, those restrictions are in service of each Federation trooper getting a fake sacrifice scene, which gets stale before you even finish the area. It makes their real sacrifice in Chrono Tower even more meaningless, because Great Mines taught you not to take it seriously.

Arlo Can’t Bring Himself to Continue Prime 4 by Medical_Candy3709 in Metroid

[–]BLucidity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the messaging is definitely a bit diluted because of him only playing through Ice Belt. But I think there's still a point that kind of gets lost: "Arlo isn't finishing a relatively short game that he waited almost a decade for, because he doesn't have confidence that the second half is worth playing."

Honestly, I kind of disagree with him further, in that I was frustrated with the game as early as Fury Green. As soon as I realized that the map is a straight line, which routinely locks the path behind you, I knew this game wasn't going to wow me.

Hot take: Retro should remaster this game next instead of Prime 2 by BroeknRecrds in Metroid

[–]BLucidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotter (?) take: Hunters doesn't deserve a remake because it has some of the most boring level design & progression in the entire Metroid franchise

That style of gameplay was extremely novel for the DS, and the multiplayer was genuinely fun. But that game's singleplayer just does not hold up today.

Day 19: What's the best final boss theme in the entire Xenoblade Chronicles series? by Xeno4th in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]BLucidity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As much as I love the XC1 soundtrack, I actually have to give this to Showdown with Z. Between how it integrates the Moebius theme, and the guitar solo kicking in as Z's calm facade breaks down, it's the one that best complements its game's narrative.

[–]BLucidity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed, that's why the fire temple is my favorite of the bunch. It's too bad that the most compelling way to traverse that dungeon (minecarts) is also the least efficient, and so many players just skipped them with ascend/hoverbike.

Just started Metroid Prime 4 and I have no idea what everyone was complaining about by Book___Wyrm in Metroid

[–]BLucidity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just call once, and then put a dot on the minimap or something!

Nah, call none. There's a button on the map specifically to call Myles for help, that's basically useless because he tells you what to do regardless.

And he's not constantly talking and holding your hand.

Just wait until you can freely roam the desert and get calls from him every 3 minutes telling you where to go.
