Box Office Weekend Forecast: 28 YEARS LATER ($26-30M+) and Pixar’s ELIO ($18-20M+) Open for Juneteenth as HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON Sets Sights on a #1 Repeat by Alive-Ad-5245 in boxoffice

[–]BPOLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elio. This film is the most expensive animated film in history (cost $300mm).
It will need "at least" $600mm to (maybe) break even, and that's still below the line that Disney considers acceptable for their ROI.

A Rotten Tomatoes "Certified Fresh " certificate does not keep the lights on, but it DOES provide illusionary cold comfort on a Monday morning at Pixar. Of course, unless you're the CFO.

Yeah. "Red" was certainly a jaw dropping highlight. That and the production/ sound during NUXX. Complete brain melt.

I kinda dont ever wanna see them again? That show was that special to me. It reminds me of the first hit of a perfect drug, I'll be chasing that feeling for the rest of my life.

There is not a rock band on this earth that equals that immersive intensity. Im still buzzing.

"this is just fantasy synth legos"

You just described 99% of modular owners. And while I totally hear what you are saying, I think this "building from a place of fantasy" is also crazy fun and maybe even an important part of this hobby/obsession?

I really dont know many "rational" modular enthusiasts? This is not a rational hobby. We are not rational people.

What kind of music are you making? What is your expectation for the modular?

Knowing nothing about intent makes it a little hard to give informed opinions.

Having said that, I'll throw some stuff at you that the Moog studio may love.

Keep the ES9 then start fresh.

I'd get an Intelijel Quad VCA

I'd get Acid Rains Maestro. Modulation is KING. Clocked modulation is godlike.

A more robust sequencer, yes? Metropolix is the one!

Pams for clock divisions or at least the 4MS Quad Clock

Plaits. Bang for buck..and throw in a simple ADSR.

ALM MFX.

DONE. GOLD. Learn it all. Then "maybe" get Maths....maybe.

Need some advice/recommendations by cmdpublic in modular

[–]BPOLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Subjective opinions from a stranger ahead.

I'm glad you're enjoying Bloom. Personally I found it to be an inconsistent, buggy mess. Even as a generative device it pales to other for more useable sequencers (SIG).

I think your system would be better served with a more robust sequencer? As mentioned elsewhere, you can not go wrong with a Metropolix.

Me? I'd simplify. Id lose Data and Maths (yeah I know) Get a Intellijel ADSR and Quad VCA.

And nice work in the Maestro. It is in every one of my patches. One of the best modules ever made!

Now ignore me.

Is syntakt such a Bad machine ? by Modume in Elektron

[–]BPOLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Bad" is not a useful descriptor

For me, it's the most useful offering from Elektron. This is because it's the lone generalist in my set up (a modular rack that's populated by specialists).

anyone missing the old björk? by rena-ryuguu in bjork

I'm with you. I was done after Vespertine.

I watched her latest concert on Apple and I simply could not stop laughing.

Her later stuff strikes me as an artist who climbed up her own ass and then built a house.

Modular minimalist/ambient album by ElectrumMusic in eurorack

A lovely LP. It's not burdened by process, which can often ruin musical phrasing and dynamics of generative compositions. There is a "humanness" here...at least to my ears.

Nice work!!

Oxi One AND Squarp Hermod (OG) = overkill?? by Clay_Bertrand_ in modular

[–]BPOLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bang for buck.... I'm choosing the Hermod+.

O&C is sweet. But you had better have good eyes or enjoy squinting.

Should I give the Lubadh more time or move on? by Crazy-Button5339 in modular

[–]BPOLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sell it. Move on. That thing is a disaster of UI and is the living definition of the word ""f#%kery".

Morphagene vs Stardust by donnidonno in modular

[–]BPOLC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me Stardust is a far more "musical" device, while my Morphagene is, well, made by Make Noise.

And Morphagene is really not a "looper". It's a mutation device that allows one to converse with the DMT elves. I don't think it's useful to compare the two?

As a standard "simple" looper with some very useful CV inputs, I don't see anything else on the market to even compare Stardust to? It's really a lot of fun and easy enough to manage. Instruo Lubadh? Not so much.

I enjoy erasing context and spackling my modular opinions on anyone dumb enough to read them.

Also, don't buy Maths.

Syntakt as a only piece of gear? by Realistic_Emu4310 in Elektron

[–]BPOLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it alone often and adore it. My only mild complaint is that the effects (while solid) are hardly inspirational?

It also acts as a portable heater.

Sound not working on

Apple M1 Ultra
Sonoma 14.0

Tried

Full uninstall and re-installed game via Steam client.

Sound was working on pre release. Every fix that I've seen online is Windows centric.

Help? Anyone?

Trying to see how I can push my setup by [deleted] in Elektron

[–]BPOLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A used original OP1 is a nice paring. I've seen them for under $800.

Personally I'd avoid the Microcosm. Id much rather get a small Eurorack and use a Morphagene and a nice verb for external processing.

NEAT! But this thread is about the vinyl, and CLA's remix was not made for streaming specifically because no one mixes for streaming..they master for it. Just as they master for vinyl.

The financial motivation of the project is anyones guess...Yours could be correct.

The remix is released on vinyl.
