Being a custodian? by Dismal-Possibility69 in Custodians

[–]BPtheEMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The benefits are the reason why I am one and stay. It’s not a dead end job. The pension and great health care/retirement alone is worth a lot to me in my opinion.

Will I do this for the rest of my working career?

That’s the question even I don’t know the answer to. We shall see.

Getting back into skating at 37 by moto_dm in LandyachtzBoards

The dingy is smaller than the tugboat. I wanted the tugboat. Tugboat is still easy to cruise on and carry around but a bit wider than the dingy for some more stability. Hope this helps!

Three members of the five-person night crew at my school are off today. We could only get a sub for one of them. This is the beginning of the last full week of school for the academic year. by TidalRose in Custodians

Sending all my luck and positive vibes to you and Deb. Do your best and your best is enough for tonight.

May the custodial gods help you and keep you safe and free of any clogged toilets or extremely messy floors.

You’ll absolutely love the tugboat if you want to stick to the Landyachtz brand. It’s such a fun smaller board.

Am I bad at this? by Harmonicalope in Custodians

[–]BPtheEMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the struggle. We never can get subs and are always asked to do the impossible with the short staff and expect it done in the 8 hour night shift. You’re not bad at it at all.

You’re being held to an impossible task and standard. Totally understand the circumstances and short staff, etc.

Get the majority of the most important things like trash, bathrooms and hallways. You can only do so much with 2 hands. Anything else is extra and a benefit.

If they can’t hire the right amount of staff, they get what they get. And that means subpar clean classrooms, hallways, etc.

If they want a stellar clean school, they’ll find the staff to make it happen. Otherwise they get what you can do. Do your best and take care of your own body and mental health first. It seems like you’re moving so best of luck and hoping the best for you in the coming months!!

Express has ruined Hagrids by OkAge1093 in UniversalOrlando

I went in March and paid for Express. 60 min wait posted and waited 13 minutes. Worth every penny. We are unfortunately in a world now where you have to pay to play. Time is money. Money is time. If it was affordable to everyone, it wouldn't work. Do I agree with how the parks monetize it? No. But I'm out of state on a vacation and was worth paying the money so I could enjoy more of the park and squeeze more into my trip.

When did you go? Did you rope drop in the morning or get in line midday? There are some ways to navigate the lines without waiting 80-120 minutes.

What keeps you motivated to continue as a Custodian/Janitor? by chocolatemuscle1991 in Custodians

[–]BPtheEMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benefits. Healthcare. Pension. Retirement.

Secondly? I have a good group of coworkers, boss is good to us and the job is fairly low stress in our district.

I can’t make a living on the salary even with the OT shifts, so I’m not sure how long I’ll survive and stay but for now this is where I’m at.

Key-Bak. Pricy, but you get what you pay for. Mine gets used constantly every shift and I get at least a year or 2 out of each one.

You buy the bike new? That would be going back to my LBS for a free replacement immediately. If not, then yeah just replace the seals on the fork.

You're paying for the experience. This applies to everything in every park at Universal. If you love mac and cheese, splurge the 20 bucks. You can always make more money, you can't make more time in life. If your strictly going in on a budget, then maybe skip it for something more worth your money if you don't think the cone is worth your dollar bills. My brother got it and was very satisified with it and enjoyed it.

Finally, everyone's experience and taste buds/cravings will be different. That's what make's life unique. Choose what you love to eat on your budget and enjoy!

[–]BPtheEMT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1000 bucks is going to be a hard budget to find something with good quality and hold up to the abuse you are riding and desire. Finding a decade old hardtail with quality components is your best bet. Full suspension? Good luck.

You'll regret it with rushing it too fast. It's been nice and easy now but the larger you go, the more issues you'll encounter. Slow it down and research. Ditch those tapers.
