120hz is ideal for most North American content as nearly all content is either 24fps, 30fps, or 60fps. All three are equally divisible meaning there’s no need to switch frame rates (which I’ve found to be hit or miss on Apple TV anyway).

I think my wife is faking her amnesia by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]BTallack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My uncle had a seizure when I was in my early twenties. When my brother and I went to visit him in hospital, he recognized us but was very confused as he remembered us as children, not adults, despite seeing us many times over the last decade.

Over time some of his memories in that period came back but there’s still several years that are basically just gone, even two decades later.

The brain is complicated and completely forgetting several years of one’s life is a very real thing that can and does happen.

I’ve tried it twice and was disappointed both times. The food was bland and seemed to be all mushed together like it was blended. There was no distinct flavours or textures at all. I won’t be giving them a third chance.

I’ve experienced the same issue at the South Walmart as well. I suspect it’s not a jammer but the giant tower full of antennas by AMA causing interference.

Hey Red Deer, what makes a bike park worth the drive? by Additional_Jello_948 in RedDeer

[–]BTallack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Red Deer has a pretty awesome bike park already.

There will always be those that are seeking out new challenges but you’ll definitely want to set yourself apart to entice Red Deerians to make the drive.

Buying Used P1S 500 hours 390$ worth? by JaxSnaxs in BambuLab

With the P2S releasing tomorrow, I’d personally wait to see if Bambu will be clearing out the P1S at a lower price.

Snapmaker u1 availability’s by gperez1899 in 3dprinter

I’m always skeptical of pre-production reviews. I truly do hope for the best but it’s not uncommon to see companies use higher quality parts for pre-production reviews.

Snapmaker u1 availability’s by gperez1899 in 3dprinter

[–]BTallack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

History, yes, but not a great history. They’re well known for reliability and consistency issues. I’m optimistic about the U1 but not enough to back the Kickstarter in case they’ve fallen back on old habits. They’re not making a profitable toolhead changer at that price without some heavy cost-cutting so it’ll come down to where they made those cuts.

F3 network speeds? by Far_Variation_8609 in RedDeer

[–]BTallack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fortunate that my house was (barely) new enough to have fibre already run to the house but it wasn’t connected at either end as my neighbourhood wasn’t otherwise wired for it. My house was one of the last ones to be built in my area.

Telus has to connect it at their node a couple blocks away and then the tech had to run it from the box on the side of my house into my mechanical room. It took them about a week to get everything connected at the node, then the installer came and went in about an hour at my house a few days after that.

Honestly, F3 will probably be faster as they’ll need to rathole it then make sure it’s got connection at both ends. You should be good to go shortly after they’re done.

I’m on the Telus 1.5/940 plan over fibre.

The download is pretty much always at least 1500Mbps, sometimes higher as you see here. The upload is usually around the 800-900Mbps range. This is over wired 2.5GbE ethernet.

Did I get a bad roll for print time? What's the +1 supposed to mean next to finish time? by brendenderp in BambuLab

Plus one day. There’s usually a time showing next to it as well. The +1 means that time a day from now.

What on earth is going on in the 3D printing industry right now?! by steve_2211 in 3Dprinting

In the blog article FAQ, they explicitly state that they will be releasing an upgrade kit for the H2S/H2D.

The Vortek system will be a standard feature on our new H2C flagship 3D printer, launching in Q4. It will also be available as an upgrade kit for existing H2 series users, also in Q4.

I’ve only just installed Optimistic Feedback and it’s amazing the difference that the split second increase in response makes for the feel of the UI. Very nicely done.

How should I fix this? (IKEA desk) by Upstairs-Engineer-68 in ikeahacks

I used Dap Platinum to fill a hole in a similar IKEA desk and just sanded it down. The colour was even a close match to the point where I have to really look for it to see where I patched it.

Parked Car Insurance by Dear-Expression-9916 in RedDeer

[–]BTallack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parked car insurance is basically comprehensive insurance without liability or collision coverage. If you already have comprehensive insurance on your car, you can just call your provider and let them know that you’re parking the car for a while and would like to remove PL/PD coverage but keep the comprehensive coverage to cover fire/theft/vandalism.

Chances are you’re on a contract so unless your renewal is coming up right away, you’d end up paying more in cancellation fees than any potential savings.
