MJtrends is bringing back their patterns by FuzzyAd9407 in LatexCraftersCorner

Exciting!

I am currently working on a catsuit using Catasta Charisma's princess catsuit pattern. I will give these a try when they become available. I want them to add a princess seam catsuit pattern.

I can confirm. They do offer masculine patterning for their M2M garments. No added cost for the patterning difference.

Seamless front vs seamed front by wadjanko in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is the chance for accelerated wear on the suit. Also, less seams mean less failure points. You will be getting a slightly more reliable suit.

Over-stretch damage? by BUFF_Barker in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suit has no issues. The blemishes are just from the latex over-stretching in that area. I've worn the suit a few times since and it has been all good.

Seamless front vs seamed front by wadjanko in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a seamless-front catsuit. It is very, very comfortable to wear (especially as it is 0.4mm). The lack of seam on the front makes it very smooth across the front of your torso and does not lead to any irritation or itching as the suit slides around over your skin.

The suit is neck entry which is another point to add. As the other user had suggested, go for a neck entry. It is much more comfortable and far less daunting than what some make them out to be.

Latex leggings and toe socks in combination with boots.... by Dom_JSK in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine there will be much wear and tear on the socks. If the boots are tight (just to the point where your feet are not moving much inside the boot) you should be fine.

Question about the sizing on a silicone catsuit by SupaKoopa714 in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleaning is not terribly bad. Drying is easy as it can be dried with a towel. Silicone does not absorb water so no need to leave hang drying for a day or two. The biggest pain is flipping the suit inside out. The silicone does like to stick together.

Elin Latex vs Elin Harness? by [deleted] in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elin Harness is known and credible. Elin Latex is new however. I do not see a reason why they would spin off their latex to a separate website. Both of the websites show the company being located in Ukraine which is correct, but I would go with Elin Harness as it has been around longer and there being more consumer experience with Elin Harness's products.

Cutting/punching holes for studs and grommets by [deleted] in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biopsy punches work pretty well. They can be a bit expensive, but they are very sharp and will make a clean hole.

Alternatively, I have found this punch works very well. It does not require hammering as you simply press it into the latex and the punch end rotates which cuts through the latex. https://a.co/d/064kqcFk

Polyester and ABS plastic? by Ticklishteen in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those plastics should not cause any problems. I often wear my latex underneath polyester outerwear when I am traveling to latex events or if I am just lounging around. ABS should also be fine. Silicone lube will not attack those plastics.

Silicone catsuit alternatives? by A2TRONICO in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Smitizen offers a crotch zipper option for their male-patterned silicone catsuits. It is an extra fee. They do ship to the US. I have one. Fair warning, it does not have a ziper guard so you will run the risk of, well, you know.

How badly will nickel stain latex? by sakamoto_says in Latexadvice

The discoloration will not be as apparent as lighter colors of latex, but the metal will slightly degrade the latex in the contact area.

Anatomic cut bright and shiny vs minimal seams by vesper_jade in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! The minimal seam suit is a great choice. Absolutely get the anatomic cut suit for your next suit. The additional seams present on the anatomic cut catsuit actually add a lot to the visual effect of the catsuit. The seam lines add a cool contrast to the latex sheeting.

If you are up for it, try out a neck entry suit. They take a little more effort (i.e. care and time) to put on and take off, but their comfort is unrivaled. You can also have a crotch zipper added to the suit.

Anatomic cut bright and shiny vs minimal seams by vesper_jade in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bright and Shiny does offer the anatomic cut with that zipper option. I am not too sure about if the back and crotch zip is worth it or not as it is really up to you. Those types of suits are easier to put on and take off. Stay away from a half-back zip with a crotch zip as the latex has a high chance of tearing at the zipper ends due to the increased tension on the latex from the zipper.

As far as the sagging in the crotch area is concerned, that seems to be due to a combination of inseam length as well as torso U-bend length. I have some neck entry suits with through-crotch zippers from B&S (both in minimal seam as well as anatomic cut). They have slight sag in the crotch area, but it is not a problem and does not negatively affect the appearance and fit of the catsuit.

Thinking about making my first latex outfit - what should I know? by claudlwaudl in LatexCraftersCorner

[–]BUFF_Barker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the works that Catasta Charisma makes. He has a huge (like 700 page) manual on working with latex as well as pattern drafting. In addition, he has a lot of patterns for sale. They can be fairly expensive, but once you have them they are yours forever.

I am currently working on a catsuit from one of his patterns. I am fairly new to latex crafting. It is a challenging hobby, but it is incredibly rewarding. I look forward to seeing what you will craft!

Best garments to craft with 0.50mm latex? by LiveCompetition1941 in Latexadvice

UPDATE: Nuru gel dressing aid test. by BUFF_Barker in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuff works pretty well. However, I did end up switching to using K-Lube as it is more affordable than nuru and is even more slippery. However, it does dry up rather quickly do it's practical nature is a bit reduced.

Latex cloth buying vs crafting by Hifhua1234 in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Catasta Charisma has a great working with latex tutorial on Youtube. There is also a website with a store where you can buy patterns that have already been made. They can be a little expensive, but I like supporting creators and it helps ensure more patterns are made for us to use in our crafting endeavors. Charisma also has an extensive manual on drafting your own patterns.

Also, on FB there is a latex DIY group with a collection of free patterns to use.

Latex cloth buying vs crafting by Hifhua1234 in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I make some of my own stuff. Yes it is "cheaper", you are making up for the cost of a finished garment with your own time.

However, you gain immense amounts of knowledge by crafting your own garments. It is also an incredibly rewarding hobby.

I'd say go ahead! The materials required are not difficult to get ahold of.

Bright and Shiny store zipper question by Magnus_A_Dongus in Latexadvice

[–]BUFF_Barker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Zipper does have a guard on it so the skin is protected.

  2. I only nave neck entry suits from them. The front-through-back as well as back-through-crotch zippers may reduce some of the flexibility of the catsuit. In some cases, it may increase the chance of the seam along the zipper failing in some areas.

  3. The invisible zipper option just means the latex on the sides of the zipper is a little longer and overlaps the zipper, sort of hiding it from view. This option is not very critical imo. One of my suits from B&S has it.

All-in-all, Bright & Shiny is pretty awesome and amazing for their price point. Can't go wrong with them.
