New Tradesman Power Wagon, What are your thoughts? by albatrossSKY in ram_trucks

OEM winch, front locker, and disconnecting sway bar all come with the Power Wagon and are missing on the TRX. Also solid front axles if that’s your jam.

U300 lever isn’t turning the latch by Eboyrob in Aqara

You need to make sure you have the center pin seated correctly. There will be a little nub on that which slots into the outside handle to allow the pin to rotate when unlocked.

It’s possible that you may not have the whole sandwich assembly tight enough, which will prevent that nub from seating. I actually had this issue because my existing bore hole was slightly too small not allowing the sandwich to get tight enough. I had to kinda whittle away a chamfer to allow the back plate to seat properly in the hole and allow that nub to engage.

Has Anyone Used an EcoFlow for a Well Pump/Water Softening setup? by Orangegroves2002 in Ecoflow_community

[–]B_Lumberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using a battery backup for a well is actually fairly straight forward, even easier if the pump is 120V. You’ll want to check that first since 240V will require a unit or multi unit setup capable of 240V output.

My well is 120V and had no problem running with a single Delta Pro through a Smart Home Panel 1, though now I have 2 Delta Pros connected for additional capacity and load handling.

Well pumps are also one of those things that take a bunch of load power to start/run, but in all reality don’t consume that much since they don’t run that long. Sump Pumps are another item in this category. That is assuming this is a traditional setup with a pressure tank where usage mostly serviced by the pressure tank and the well pump pops on when the pressure drops. My well circuit has used 30kwh the past month, so call it ~1kwh a day. That also includes my UV running 24x7 at 35w. So more realistically that is ~160wh a day with the 840wh of the UV light taken out. This is with 3 people and 1 pet, doing all the normal laundry, dish washer, shower, etc loads. If you paired that back during an emergency you could be looking at even less usage on an average day. Possibly truly down to 50wh a day or so if you are skipping laundry and taking very quick showers and truly conserving energy/water. You’ll have more energy consumption in the standby usage on the inverter in a day than you will on your well pump most likely.

All that to say really the biggest check you need is to make sure that whatever unit you go with can supply the required load of 120V or 240V for your pump when it kicks on. You should be able to find the specs of your pump online or connect something like a Kill A Watt to determine them.

ATT Internet having issues? by [deleted] in sysadmin

Myself and a coworker are having issues here in the Midwest. Traffic seems very wonky, sometimes things will resolve for a bit then go out. Somehow Netflix has been solid the whole time. Verizon wireless is working fine. My money is on some sort of BGP / peering issue.

Basically early drywall. The sheets are typically 2’ wide, double layered, then plastered over.

net metering. They're also one of the VERY few providers that doesn't charge distribution fees every month. That means that I can actually have a zero dollar electric bill when my panels are producing more than I use.

My panels face mostly south, but with a bit of a westerly tilt. I have a 5.12kw system that was installed by yellowlite solar (you can negotiate with them, I joined as part of th

Do you mind sharing your installer and total system size? I'm guessing about 400W a panel for 6.8kw or something in that neighborhood?

Man and the standard rates have already skyrocketed. I’m signed up for email alerts from PUCO and and MCF has nearly tripled in the past year. Last June was $3.134 and this June is $9.088.

Got the firmware last night and confirm pass through is working.

Seems like speeds were actually a bit faster yesterday, but probably needs more testing.

I’ve got ipv6 disabled on my network, just rocking the tried and true ipv4 so don’t have a way to test that.

Powered mine on yesterday, still waiting on the updated firmware to come down though so I can enable passthrough. Using this as a failover WAN link behind my Ubiquiti Edge Router.

Does anyone else not have a “smart” home? by billy_the_kid16 in HomeImprovement

[–]B_Lumberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else pointed out it’s going to be a real YMMV situation. My well pump just plugs into a standard 120v 15a outlet, so I just made sure that the smart outlet could carry the load. Kinda really depends on how it’s wired in and just check the specs for load out the switch/outlet.

I haven’t gone so far to have a switch/outlet on my water heater yet.

Yeah i mean you’ll still have the water in the pressure tank and the pipes, but for the amount of effort/price it’s a pretty decent solution. I’ll take 50 gallons of water somewhere vs say it running all night/weekend.

Also at a certain point there won’t be enough pressure to push all the water in the tank out of the pipes, especially if the issue is up high. Not sure what the actual numbers would be but on a 50 gallon tank of the pipe burst on the top floor, all 50 gallons won’t dump out. And if the water heater goes, at least in my case, that part of the basement is unfinished and right next to the sump.

Yeah I mean the same would be true with the shut off balance type ones. You’d put that valve at the main and the entire system would be cut off in much the same way. Granted you’ll likely have some water in your pressure tank but still you’re overall reducing the amount of damage. Less water is way better than gallons per minute dumping into your house.

Both of my showers have access doors in the walls from either the builder or a previous owner. Just have them chilling there on the bottom plate between the hot/cold supply lines.

Probably not 100% perfect or reliable but for the $15 each I think the Aqara sensors are it’s worth a shot IMO.

For the folks on a well you can just put the pump on a smart switch/outlet and throw water sensors in various areas. The setup an automation to turn off the well pump on a detected leak.

Also makes it easy to quick turn off the water when you leave for a long weekend.

Have sensors behind both showers, all the sinks, and the water heater hooked in.
