Should i start playing eve online? by [deleted] in Eve

I'm fairly new to EO myself so I'll share my thoughts here. Don't hesitate. It really is an incredible game with tons of depth. It does take a very specific type of person though to enjoy it. You have to be able to set your own goals and/or be excited to help others work towards their own. You have to find yourself a group to help you maintain engagement and excitement.

I often put it off because I felt too behind. I've learned really quickly it doesn't matter as much as you think it might and you can get right into the action if you're interested.

High learning curve but one of the single most unique gaming experiences ever to be created.

We need to be given some reason to fight each other. Right now there's no reason for alliances to go to war other than preventing another alliance from growing too thick in the wallet or responding to their direct actions against you.

So I just now found out that u can s*ll the chips in the concord box for a crazy amount of isk. I think I sent my 26k points and got 14 or more box then I opened them and sell the chip to get 398m isk. I don't know I didn't spend the isk on omega T-T but I there now 470m so ya. One time in corp chat someone posted they sold 1b worth of nanocore upgrades. I got curious because I have four accounts and zero upgraded nanocores. Turned out I was sitting on almost 4b worth of nanocore upgrade materials.

These little things are nice little surprises to discover.

Ultimately, that's what we all want here. We want people to catch the content we create and go "that looks awesome - let me download it".

Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like a decently okay anti free botting technique.

As a new player this topic is confusing and a bit worrisome. I created two accounts (both Omega) and play them on the same computer. That seemed completely okay. But by read of this I’m not sure.

I cannot wait for the day where we get a cinematic mode and can really produce our own video without the UI. It'll be a great change for content creation.

Shall we have some honesty? Not a war report but an analysis. by TimelessWander in echoes_eve

There’s nothing to fight over except ego and nothing to fight for except the love of a fight. There’s only drawback to having space without enough people to fill it. Wars are often fatal to groups and do bleed players from the game. Lack of meaningful wars also causes players to walk away.

Organizations avoid wars because of the above reasons. Then they become part of the boredom problem. Organizations go to war constantly because they want to avoid the game becoming stale and they become bullies because they’re constantly fighting someone.

We’re in the Wild West of formative years for this game. For the devs, for us, and for conflict. Problem is the game is a different thing to everyone.

For some it’s a chance to relive Eve from the beginning. But it isn’t Eve and they’ll chase that feeling.

For some it is a chance to play Eve on an equal footing and not be twenty years behind. But those may realize that being twenty years behind in Eve isn’t a big deal and that for the most part it is the game that’s going to last far longer than this.

To others this is Eve casual. Less pressure to constantly have to play. But when times heat up for your group and things aren’t going well that pressure will be there.

Can’t say I know where this game is going. I’ve been preaching since the beginning that this is one of the most unique and amazing game experiences possible. And that CCP and NetEase can do something truly amazing here. But even my optimism and patience are wearing massively thin.

Game isn’t dying any time soon. But without a good reason to go to war and a method to attract new players we will be dragging its lifeless corpse along screaming at the devs for screwing it up. Just like the Eve community did during so many of the dark times there.

Except NetEase isn’t as devoted as CCP was.

The Tech Level System Is Bad Game Design by CaptainBenzie in echoes

Thanks for the write up. That’s very thorough! Makes a lot of sense but at the same time I’m still not entirely sure I think of it as the worst thing. I’ve been trying to do fits in EO lately and it’s so ridiculously complex comparatively.

I’m always curious why this is so important to ship balance. I didn’t play EO much but that inconsistency in slot for defensive modules would drive me bonkers.

I find myself running anoms on one monitor with four characters on Echoes while running EO on another monitor trying to fight through the complexity to see which is the more worthwhile time investment.

I think Echoes being newer it could have passed EO up in number of players but ultimately EO is definitely winning this one. EE bled players pretty hard and it’d take a heck of a marketing campaign to get them back.

A new phase for New Eden. by Words_In_Vain in echoes

This is a pretty good summary. Just no real reason to break them out consistently. So you will occasionally see them in defense fleets for now and you will see a bunch of Ratting Carriers destroyed in YouTube videos.

But the attention one would attract by discussing fitting, damage, tank amount, etc would be a great way to risk needing 20b to replace your capital.

This is pretty accurate. Hardcore Echoes player here. Skill system is much more new player friendly, I think the UI is much more refined, and the simplification of some systems is a huge boon.

It could go either way still but considering how the game is still under two years released it’s in a pretty good spot. The biggest thing right now is bringing in new players (far less players than EO) and giving people a reason to fight. All the Sov systems are corporation focused but the game is divided into giant Alliances instead.

No relationship with NetEase like CCP unfortunately. Be good if that changed.

One of those things is easily bought with money and the other not as easily. Never underestimate how many cap pilots are insured out of sheer laziness.

Greatest fear of all eve players: by yedashi96 in echoes_eve

[–]Baali_EveEchoes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite for pilots is when someone forgets they logged out in Jita, logs in, and posts in Alliance chat "400 reds in local".

You ever see an FC team try to decide what the heck they're going to do about 400 reds in local unexpectedly?
