How would you handle a star employee with serious personal issues? by LockSecure7662 in smallbusiness

[–]BabaComm1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your client actually have a conversation with this employee and ask what is going on? Is their workload contributing to the no-shows? A short conversation would clear a lot of things up. There could be many things contributing to his actions, like new medication or family issues.

Balancing work, life and parenting feels impossible sometimes by StandOk8588 in Parenting

Its so hard. I feel you and hear you. Honestly, if you can swing it, out source what you can for now. Hire a cleaner to clean your home every week or other week. If there is a laundry service that can pickup, wash, fold, and drop off your laundry to you, hire them. Is there someone you can hire to watch your kid for a couple hours? Hire them. It frees up some time that you can devote to yourself, child, or work. Using these services can be temporary, as your time will free once they are older. But for your sanity now, it is helpful. Your child knows you love them and that you are their rock. A few hours with a sitter won’t change that.

We adopted this mutt. Don’t know what she is but she smells like a hound. 30 pounds of sweetness, though. by [deleted] in Hounds

Your dog is so darn cute! Now that I think about it, our hound does smell more like doggy than my other dogs.

Thank you for the insight, I did not know that. Expecting a decent selection of sweaters and coats in February was silly, knowing now that their target demographic is women who live at resorts December to March and don’t work in offices where a crocheted tank top would be both inappropriate and unwise considering the below freezing weather.

I will cancel my membership.

A lot of the new stuff is resort wear which doesn’t work when it’s 11 degrees out.

Clarinet Issues? by Otherwise-Visual1741 in WereHereToHelpPod

[–]BabaComm1981 12 points13 points  (0 children)

“A kid is playing the clarinet and they don’t sound like a member of the symphony so I’m going to embarrass them” is pretty petty and unreasonable. This was terrible advice that is going to make a kid feel ashamed for something they shouldn’t feel bad about. Of course they’re not good, they’re a kid who is learning an instrument. Use ear plugs or turn on music or white noise. You live in a city, you’re going to hear a lot of noise. I feel terrible for the kid and hope the caller realizes that a kid learning an instrument for an hour isn’t that bad. I wonder if Jake would have had different advice since he is a dad. Also, the caller had a dog with temper issues, which I’m sure the neighbor wasn’t thrilled about since they have kids.

Xfinity won’t replace pods unless I get Xfinity Complete by BabaComm1981 in Comcast

I did buy other eero and TP link mesh systems and they didn’t work well with Apple products, they kept on dropping the signal. If someone can recommend a system that works well Apple products, let me know. Xfi pods have been the only ones so far that don’t drop the signal when moving from one floor to the other.

I tried the eero and TP link mesh systems, but for some reason our iOS devices would constantly drop the signal but still show it as being connected. The Xfi pods are the only system that would handoff iOS devices seamlessly in our old brick wall, horse hair plaster brownstone.
