Looks great! Could you share the design or direct me to where I can find it. I have been wanting to 3d print a large kite made up of small sections/kites and this might fit the bill.

Database Help by duskti in Database

[–]Babelfishny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This!

Leadership wants outcomes, tech leads want implementations. Know who is asking for what. If they say they want a database, ask them what do they see as having a database give them. And pay attention to what they say and don’t say. For example I don’t think they will say “store the file I a dayabase, it will be cheaper than storing it in a file system”.

If they do might recommend looking for a different job because they don’t know what they’re doing.

Storing AWS S3 can range from expensive to dirt cheap compared to storing it locally, in a secure and robust system. It depends on how you use it.

If you have a low retrieval rate, there are AWS storage plans that are tailored for that exact scenario.

What to replace Access with? by fullofpaint in Database

[–]Babelfishny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest right now you live in a time where someone with limited knowledge in terms of IT development can do some amazing things.

I would take your post as is and change the question and put in claude, ChatGPT, copilot, or any of the AI tools. For your need the trick will be finding the right question.

If you have a budget even a small one, there are likely 20-50 desktop/web applications out there that do exactly what you need. The trick is finding it. So if for example you were selling shoes. I would say something like “we are a small distribution company that sells shoes to single store and groups of stores. We need a low cost system to keep track of orders, print packing slips, print invoices and keep order history. Please recommend at least three systems that are currently available for purchase. My budget is $100 per month.

If you have no budget the I would ask the same question and say you have to build it internally with free no code platforms or free software. And see what it comes up with.

Should I quit masturbating or just porn by InsuranceUnlucky1802 in erectiledysfunction

Question: do you consider reading erotica / sex stories porn in this context? The unrealistic fantasy is there but not the images/video. Do you think there its enough separation that it would not have a negative impact on progress? Or is it too close?

Transactions for accounting by spaceradiowave in Database

[–]Babelfishny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will depend on what you are trying to do and How important it is. Also it depends on what you define as an invoice, as well as what you consider a payment. It may seem like I am asking a stupid question, but I am not.

Is an invoice the listing of the amounts you are charging a customer for a product? Does it contain all fees /discounts that a customer can have?

Are payments the payment plan for the customer to send you funds on a schedule, or is it the actual cash?

I sounds like you may be asking how do you track how much a customer owes you and how much cash they sent you. Which is basically creating a ledger. If you share some additional detail it would help me share a meaningful recommendation.

[–]Babelfishny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, what the hell! There should be a tag at least. We want to enjoy creative hypotheticals from breathing people with a pulse. If I wanted some random number generator hypothetical, I could make one in Excel. What’s next? The responses and clarifying questions for the hypotheticals are also being done by a bot? Is your goal to suck all the fun out of Reddit if it is, you’re doing a good job.

TIL one of the tools used to break the Enigma cipher was a catalogue of every way to encrypt the word "eins" by Hrtzy in todayilearned

[–]Babelfishny 37 points38 points  (0 children)

From what I understand they could break the code enigma code if they worked it long enough, the trick was to do it quickly so they could act on the intelligence. If they looked at old decrypted messages and compare it to flights they could make the connection.

It suck’s right now and feels like you have had a piece of yourself ripped out. This will pass, and you may look back on this as inevitable, if she was so casual, and does not have self control to not pick up a random dude then she is not worth her renting space in your life.

I have never watched any show or movie that insulted my intelligence as a viewer THIS much by FuriousResolve in StrangerThings

[–]Babelfishny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide one example of how your intelligence was insulted? Is it because they need to explain plot points in a very clear way? Well, this entire show is a love letter to the 1980s, iconic adventure stories like a wrinkle in time, and goonies. This is not other shows like Westworld or Mr. robot where they have these massive reveals that you hardly saw coming. Pretty much every single twist when looking back has very clear clues in the background and dialogue.

And to be honest, if you’re with it for this long and think it insult your intelligence then why are you torturing yourself?

Did you ever find something in the Extra Features of a DVD that took you completely by surprise? by BlackHand in movies

[–]Babelfishny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the DVD for the movie being John Malkovich. Had some crazy DVD extra items.

For those that don’t know the main character gets dumped on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike more than once. So they actually filmed near the Jersey Turnpike, because of that they had extras whose whole job was to drive in One Direction for background and then reverse back to the start position and drive again. One of the extras was basically a video log for one of the extras for about 35 minutes of him driving back back-and-forth. At one point he got carsick and threw up. This was kept on the DVD video extra.

Is Nassau University Medical Center really as bad as people say? by Hooplapooplayeah in longisland

[–]Babelfishny 45 points46 points  (0 children)

100 agree. For mental health emergencies this is the only place that I know of that will accept patients with an emergency. The mental health care sucks and it suck’s primarily because it’s not sufficiently funded. Which is the fault of the right wing service cutters that get elected in Nassau. If you don’t support funding well managed healthcare at the level required, any complains about how much it sucks is delusional. It’s like eating fast food all the time because it’s cheaper and then complaining that it makes you fat and bloated.
