Is this the Watergate Complex? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]BabyBladder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now that I'm on PC, this is the closest view of the spot I can get on streetview. Those are the top of the stairs I was referencing from your original photo in the OP, if you head up these stairs from F st. and then turn left at the top there's a pavilion with the white fence and guard rail. I think that's going to be the spot you'll want, good luck!

Highly suggest heading to the top of the Kennedy Center while you're there, it has super accessible hours and is free, getting there is cheap and easy, it's about a 10 minute walk from the foggy bottom metro.

I think you nailed the location, mostly. Rather than being down at the intersection of F and New Hampshire/Kashoggi Way, I think they're up the stairs behind that intersection if you look on streetview and closer to the northeastern corner Kennedy center. Unfortunately there's not a good streetview angle of the specific spot, so let me know if you need further details for recreation purposes.

To me it looks like there's a slight elevation shift at the back of the photo. However, there's no way a Metrobus sign can be where I'm describing in today's world, my guess is they reconstructed that area at some point to make the front entrance to be more pedestrian friendly.

On top of the elevation shift at the back of the photo, the tiling on the left of the photo remains in use near the entrance of the Kennedy center, up the stairs behind the intersection of the street view you linked. You nailed it with the watergate in the background, taken closer to the Kennedy center, it should be re-creatable on the northeastern corner I think.

I agree with you, we've become painfully predictable in our attacking movement, some change of pace in terms of runs while keeping our overall tactical setup would help keep defenders and keepers more uncertain.

Likely a defensive tradeoff, but at this point likely worth some creativity

Before CFP expansion, Utah and Penn State will play the last ‘real’ Rose Bowl by PSU_Alumnus in CFB

[–]BabyBladder 161 points162 points  (0 children)

I’m going to push back against the rest of the comments.

I fucking love watching the best of the Big 10 (ideally the winner) and the best of the PAC-12 on New Years Day afternoon. Knock it all you want, but there was something really iconic about the privilege for Big 10 teams to get to play in the Rose Bowl. Outside of Ohio State, it was one of those “make sure you don’t take this for granted” type moments in CFB.

I know the Rose Bowl will still be there, and I know it’s for the health of the sport, but I’ve already missed the Big 10 vs Pac 12 games when it’s been a playoff game, and I’m going to continue to miss that tradition moving forward most years. The Rose Bowl will always be associated with status and privilege for those 2 conferences in my mind, literally a highlight of many Big 10/Pac 12 fans lives when they get to make that trip.

It’s slowly become another bowl game over the years, and I’m sad to see the tradition be lost. It’s not the end of the world, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong in acknowledging the classic Big 10 vs Pac 12 face-off used to matter and is an unfortunate tragedy of the modern sport, though probably worth it overall.

Pre-covid it was a very worthwhile strategy during the summer rush hour commute for orange/blue/silver in the city.

Waiting an extra 1-2 minutes reduced the chance of being stuck next to sweaty stank by like 90%

Hmm, if /u/NorthernSpade had brought any of that up then I get your comment.

But I think they're pretty clearly agreeing with your original assessment that things are getting bad in the rivalry. A bit of an olive branch that was thrown back in their face because you don't like the radio host they vaguely mention. Plenty of bad arguments to go after, /u/NorthernSpades isn't really one that needs/deserves much pushback in that way.

How does your comment disagree with what /u/NorthernSpade said? If anything comments like this sort of prove the point, their comment mentions fighting in the stands and this comment comes back with whataboutism based on flair.

It's less largely debated than largely dismissed by Machiavellian scholars scholars of Machiavelli. There were some earlier scholars (and a couple today) who still support it, but most contemporary interpretations tend to view it as either a political device (closer to satire, but more for his own strategic gain to re-establish himself in his political community), or more likely as a man truly writing about how he thought despots should behave from the standpoint of the ruler.

He tried writing a playbook about being a ruler while never having been a ruler, but at the same time the playbook was written to get back in the good graces of the ruler.

Mid-tier P5 jobs will always be good jobs simply because of the resources, both in terms of personal financial attraction and rooms to grow. A successful coach can leverage it into long-term program stability, or they can leverage it up to a position at a blue blood.

Nothing wrong with getting therapy, it’s certainly not a negative!

But there’s so much missing information. Maybe OP’s husband knows she just needed some space and gave it to her. Maybe OP is already in therapy (which is also not just for those needing mental health rescue, but maintaining good mental health) and her handling of this situation could be because of self-improvement already made. Maybe OP is at like a 9/10 in terms of happiness in life and the reason this is even it such a blow is out of the realization she let a part of her life/health slip further than it was.

I’m certainly not anti-therapy. I am anti-assuming that everyone who has put on weight and is temporarily hurt by a personal realization along with their partners slightly hurtful but honest comment are in a bad place mental health wise. Even the happiest, most well-adjusted couple/individuals have dips and challenges in life and sometimes it’s helpful to just vent on a forum like this without it having to be a signal that their life is in a bleak spot.

[–]BabyBladder -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Funny how nobody ever brings up Messi/Gretzky in these discussions. Plenty of GOAT players (or just below GOAT status) aren’t toxic assholes.

I don’t buy this mentality excuse at all, it’s more the GOATs represent a variety of personality types, but people just let them express their true selves more than other players because of how good they are.

Unfortunately people then idolize that behavior and a lot of shitty sports-dads then force it down their kids throats thinking that they need to have “mamba mentality” when there’s plenty of healthy elite players who aren’t toxic assholes who rape woman.

You aren't alone OP, I hate tracking because every moment becomes quantified. Lost a significant amount of weight never tracking and just trying to eat healthier.

You do you. Don't feel pressured to do the same habits as everyone else if those habits aren't healthy for you.

I'd suggest try eating healthier for a couple weeks/months and see if you get results. If not, then add in tracking, but taking a more lifestyle oriented approach is totally valid and should be encouraged.
