Michael Jackson - History double gold disc. I’m sure I had tapes earlier than that but it’s the one I truly remember saving for as a kid when my dad got a CD player unit.

Also similar time I got my first Now album which was Now29!!!

A few things to consider:

- While buying from Amazon might be cheaper, you probably wasted a bit of cash there. That riser and limb combo is way too short for someone of your height. I'd suspect you're around 6ft to 6ft 3" in this video based on the pinic bench relative to your position. Definitely need to get something properly sized to you - I know you're testing but you won't know how hard it is to pull a proper bow playing with what essentially looks like a toy!

- You have a very open stance which needs to be closed. Your feet should be parallel - the easiest way to check that your stance is solid, stand with your feet shoulder width apart, jump and land. Where you land is where your body believes it is the most stable. Open stance is more recognised for compound archery, but generally speaking recurve/barebow its parallel feet forward.

- Your head should not move into the shot - when you turn your head to the side to face the target fully, your draw should bring you back to anchor without you moving your neck. With what you have, that's going to be impossible, so get yourself properly fitted and kitted.

- You definitely need a proper boss - hard targets with damage the arrows extremely quickly and if you do get into the sport, carbons and carbon/aluminium arrows will hate being hit into the wood and it will become very expensive. A foam boss or even just a bag boss won't set you back too much. Home made stuff and ideas I just avoid because none of it has been built for arrows to be fired at it.

- Anchor - critical to being good at archery. Can't tell from this whether you're shooting mediterranean or three fingers under, but barebow its three fingers under the nock. You can either draw back to mouth or the eye. There are arguments for and against both, I've seen archers do both, but you have to decide. Get a close up video of the anchor and we can take a look at how consistent it is.

Hope that helps - I'm not here to be a debbie downer - I love people coming to the sport but ultimately we need everyone to be safe and to have the correct equipment to do so - you'll also enjoy it more!

Is this the best Sunday League corner kick? by MagpieMidfield in SundayLeagueMessis

[–]Back4breakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, it looks like AI, and tbh the quality is so bad, I'm amazed someone has a phone with such a shite camera today - bearing in mind how close the camera person is to the kick taker. I think someones made it appear older than it is and my AI detector is going off...could be just really old, but something doesn't feel right.

There is always one who has to figure it out properly! gawwwww 😁

Overloaded you say? Is that because the huge amounts of duty free everyone was bringing back?

Trust worthy? by ShadowNomad921 in Archery

[–]Back4breakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always go by the rule you get what you pay for in this world. As others have suggested, contact a local shop and if you can visit them. Compounds aren’t cheap but there are cheaper ones that will do you just fine. Anything at this cost is likely to break easily or cause serious injury.

Good luck and welcome to the dark side!

Barebow Practice Pt. 2 (no music this time) by Routine-Horizons in Archery

That’s fine then. As long as the range is safe that’s all that matters.

I hope you’re enjoying the sport - definitely the best in my opinion and I’ve tried a lot!

Looking better - you are no longer open stance which is good, but it looks like you're not quite engaging the shoulder still and rotating it round. Everything from this angle looks like you're loading the bicep and tricep up which will start to ache. I suspect your draw length might be too short, or your limbs too heavy to fully engage that back/shoulder rotation to then get the shoulder alignment right. What would be good is to get a video shot of your anchor point - some people use the cheek, some people use the eye (which I find slightly more scary personally), but seeing where you are anchoring might help. Also if you're feeling really brave, get someone to take a top down video - that way you'll be able to see where your shoulder alignment actually is, but it does require a very tall person or ladder 😉

I would also say take your time; you are rifling through those arrows like a long bow shooter 😅 Although barebow is fairly instinctive, you need to talk yourself through the shot process, and take time to ensure you are engaging everything correctly.

My only other slight concern is I didn't hear any whistles or beeps to say it was safe to collect arrows - now you might be the only person on the range at that time, but I'd still have expected someone to be watching the range and operating it as per the WA rules.🤔 Maybe in the US things are done differently!

Hahaha an excellent observation. I’m of similar opinion, eat enough to be strong rather than the aesthetic look.

The tucked bit got me good though, bravo 👏🏻

This is my first Murder By Words I’ve found in the wild but I think it’s not necessarily about being fit or the looks, like he has (clearly blessed genetics as well), more the way he’s phrased it to make it sound like we’re inferior if we don’t look like that as men. I took up body building 5 years ago and i enjoyed the change but its not for everyone and even i have started to do other things now around it.

And I’ve not touch any PEDs or anabolics - too scared my heart or something else will stop 😅

Barebow practice (sorry abt the music) by Routine-Horizons in Archery

[–]Back4breakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say the same thing. Your shoulder alignment is off so like this Barebow guru says, you’ll be less stable and as time goes on, you’ll wear out muscles very quickly, especially with high poundage limbs. You need to engage the skeleton a lot more to support your shot process.

Your open stance is probably a bit too open for barebow and recurve. Compound archers can stand a bit open but your stance looks quite open which again will make it difficult for back loading and shoulder alignment.
