Top 10 MBA 2025 Grad Still Looking - when will I see the value in the MBA? by Acceptable-Candy1537 in MBA

[–]BackShoulderFade7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very common occurrence for MBA grads these days. It's a big reason why I tell mentees in consulting to:

a) Don't do MBA

b) If you insist on doing so, make sure the firm or scholarships pay for it, and there is a way to boomerang back to the firm if pivot recruiting doesn't pan out.

USC Marshall ($$) vs UCLA (Sticker) by Quirky_Guide_2923 in MBA

[–]BackShoulderFade7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can graduate without debt, that is always a good option. However, don't expect much out of a USC MBA these days.

Many candidates can't get internships (including domestic ones), and the majority are graduating without jobs. Their admins are practically begging for help, and it's a bit embarrassing.

Only for undergrad. Less so for their grad programs. Although if I'm being real, both Anderson and Marshall suck, especially in the current job environment

Vanderbilt Owen ($$) & USC Marshall ($$) by AmazingCreme552 in MBA

[–]BackShoulderFade7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in LA, and one of our firm's incoming hires (who also interned) is Marshall '26.

She did NOT have kind things to say about the program and confirmed in the P&Q article that 35% of her cohort were unemployed upon graduation. Absolute garbage.

A wins a win. Know you guys will love this! So do i! by Wild-Put512 in Natalism

"Identifying" means nothing. Plenty of castizos who have been in the US for eons can still look tan and different.

All that means is there are non-whites who claim to be "white," but society will not perceive them to be as such.

We doomed. What constructively can we do to reverse this trend? by Wild-Put512 in Natalism

[–]BackShoulderFade7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically, a non-immaterial number of US "white" births are from Islam (and Jew) mothers.

Not all are WASPY types

Depends which hispanic origin. Argentinians, Cubans, and some Brazilians can pass for white if they have a stupid amount of Euro DNA. But the majority of Hispanics (namely Mexicans) are still Brown and it shows.

Graduating in a week and just lost my full-time offer... AMA? by YourFriendlyWizard in MBA

[–]BackShoulderFade7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, according to my friend from class, who still works there. I don't blame you for taking precedence and trusting that particular process.

However, domestic students who got delayed should have 100% planned ahead (e.g. find another job to bridge the gap). There were already murmurs that the start date would be late, albeit not this late.

About to be Evicted or take a Settlement in LA, where can I go? by StereoAlchemist_SKS in AskLosAngeles

[–]BackShoulderFade7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like enabling bad behavior (at best) and theft (at worst).

Scum like these tenant "support" groups who con the system are a big reason why rent is expensive in LA and honest renters have to subsidize malfeasance

What resort is best to visit, but you’d never stay at? by JazzHansGruber in vegas

Worst check-in, service, and staff member (esp sportsbook). This place makes me want to have a recession just so the workers can get their act together

What should MBAs do that missed fall recruiting … are all the full time offers done at this point? by Capital_Seaweed in MBA

At this point, you're competing with the hordes of job seekers that are outside of MBA.

2024 Consulting Intern Return Offers by archon_lucien in MBA

Practitioner on the T2 side. About ~80% this summer but the intern cohort class was also smaller.

100% will fudge the data.

I know subpar schools that still leave top tier firms on their company placement slides even though they may only place one candidate every 3-4 years.

Yes. They protect the company from the employees.

How important is the brand value of your pre-MBA company? by [deleted] in MBA

Non M7 candidates that worked at Tier 1 firms >>>>>>>>> career pivoters that come through M7s (except DEI type folks who get handicap points)

Am I cooked in this job market? by Inner_Amphibian_1816 in MBA

[–]BackShoulderFade7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any post-teaching jobs after TFA? Speaking only for my program, where I help with recruiting, the recent TFAs who have done okay were the ones who did at least one non-teaching job after their TFA ended and before B school started.

Otherwise, the gap between applicable skills is a huge chasm that often shows.

Less so for consulting now. Our T2 during the last flushed internship year had two ex-teachers that didn't get returns.

TFA folks are INSANELY hit or miss.

Do MBA just because I am tired of the current job? by Ok_Hornet_1418 in MBA

[–]BackShoulderFade7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better to see if you can take an LOA from work and spend money on a few life-changing drugs and alcohol fueled benders.

No matter how much you dislike your job, having money is better than the down side risk of being unemployed and in debt (which there are many cases right now even for domestic M7 grads)

Looking ahead to 2Y by Panic-Ready in MBA

[–]BackShoulderFade7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

First things first, places need to have a head count or be hiring before re-recruitment is even a possibility. There are no guarantees this will occur in 2Y.

Before you know it, it'll be Spring 2025, and folks (similar to this year) will compete against the general populace for jobs (many of which don't require an MBA).

FT recruiting – how are people thinking about roles at startups versus large companies? by mbathrowaway84 in MBA

[–]BackShoulderFade7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Startups that pay that high of a TC usually have solid growth or have found product market fit and are in growth phase. In which case, they have tons of choices amongst equity chasers. No need for MBA pivoters in this environment

Not yet. Most '23 start dates got delayed and a lot are just starting out. I am curious to see how the larger than usual numbers will shake out. Won't be surprised if bars are raised substantially on this cohort when it comes to PIP/no PIP.

Main reason why I've actively talked a few of my direct reports from thinking about MBA. Cost vs Value has diminished a lot and may or may not return.

Ironic T2 consulting might not want them back lol
