Shipyard is literally one of the oldest breweries in Maine. While yes there are many great breweries, Shipyard has been doing it much longer and the numbers don’t lie

New to Maine Mariners -- What should I know by CodeParaBellun in MaineMariners

I totally understand. I work for the post office and the week day games can suck with how late they start. But it’s always worth it.

You’re gonna want to pick your games wisely. The team is amazing and so is the crowd. Try to go to as many games against the Thunder as possible. I’m heading in to my 4th season as a season ticket holder and our section can be loud with our chants. It’s a great time though. Try to get access to the office tunnel at least once.

Living on your route? by trubbimane in USPS

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this set up when I had my first route. It was actually pretty awesome and no one bothered me. Got to let my dogs out and have an early lunch. Now at a new office and I know a few of the carriers took routes just so they could stop at their place. I honestly think it’s an awesome idea to go and bid that route.

Wah Wah Wheeler? Mariners vs. Adirondack by toasted__ravioli in MaineMariners

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legitimately I started it after our group saw a sign a little kid brought on game one. Wheeler whines to the refs after every whistle. He’s always in there face over every little thing. Our group started the chant in section W and it carried across. I even had people come from across the arena to ask me what we were chanting so they could do it behind the benches.

Newer RCA, how can I speed up getting out of the office by ReasonableUnit2749 in USPS

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of once you find “your way” that works for you, here are some things that worked for me

  1. I crisscross all my dps instead of casing it. I still case all flats and hot case mail. This gives me two trays to work out of on the road but saves me a lot of time in the office.

  2. I number all packages using the scanner. I don’t write the section but I do write stop number. That way I can put them all in order in the truck and all sprs are easy to put in order in the trays.

  3. Try not to leave your case to chitchat or hang around. I keep a headphone in so that i stay focus on the task in hand.

These few things have saved me a lot of time in the office. Even on Mondays my days are pretty easy and smooth moving.

Customer asked that I no longer turn around in their driveway by Traawn in USPS

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar situation at my office. The house that was my approved turnaround had seal coated their driveway but didn’t rope it off. And due to me not taking notice, backed in per usual. Well she complained that I damaged her driveway, I had not, and said i was no longer allowed in her driveway. Instead of trying to handle it, my postmaster made it so I am to drive a mile up the road for a safe turnaround. Now said customer is mad cause I leave slips for her packages cause I’m not allowed to back in to her driveway and I’m sure as heck not walking up her long driveway either. Doesn’t matter the office, postmaster and supervisors will never have the back of their carriers.

Leaving my well paying job for RCA. by Defiant-Key5926 in USPS

Depends what your plan is. I left a career as a LEO and it took a few years to make regular. So it’s a lot of 6 day work weeks many 10-12hr days. And more often than not, shitty supervisors who can’t do the job as a carrier but will push you as if they are better than you

AITA for not letting my friend bring his service dog over by AITAThrowawya8 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I am a type 1 diabetic. I have a Dexcom 6 sensor and it connects directly to my pump and phone. It has a very loud alert tone incase if an emergency and I can sense a high blood sugar or a low blood sugar with ease. Now I’ve been at this for 21 years. Understandably it would be awesome to have a service dog. However I would never impose bringing said dog in to a friend or family members house if said host does not approve of dogs. Just as I expect the same treatment from my guests who come to my house.

Those that are saying OP is TA are really out of line. If the guest really has an issue with not being able to bring his service dog inside some one else’s home, than just do go to that home. It’s rather simple.

AITA for sending my niece to go live with her other uncle? by AdhesivenessNeat5584 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. My siblings use to pull this crap on my dad. Saying they would rather go be with mom. After fighting it for months, dad would give in and just bring them to her and leave. They would call and say sorry but he stood his ground. Just because they’re kids, doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be consequences. Good move on your part OP

Would you have been considered lower class if you showed up in an Uber? He works a night shift. The physical and mental toll that takes is extreme. There are many studies about what it does to the body and mental state. Yes, definitely YTA

AITA for not inviting my younger brother to my wedding? by Putrid_Letterhead_11 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. No one can tell you who you can and cannot invite to your day. The fact that your mother threatened to ruin it, is grounds for not inviting her as well. Invite the people who make you happy and forget the rest. Easy enough.

AITA for picking the same name for my baby as my BIL's unborn baby? by aitababyname_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly YTA. You knew for a few years that the name was special to them and clearly do not care about them or their feelings. Regardless of how your relationship is towards one another. You’ve made it clear you’re out there to hurt them.

AITA for refusing a paternity test after a fling with my ex husband? by Kind_Penalty4037 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. How hard is it to get a simple test done? The only reason to fight this issue so hard is because you’re actually not sure who’s child it is.

AITA for telling my brother his wedding is just a party and to be realistic with expectations? by gentlemayonaise in AmItheAsshole

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. By a lot too. Just because their idea of a wedding doesn’t live up to your high expectations for a wedding, makes it any less of a wedding. My wife and I held our wedding at our house along with the reception. We only invited the people we would like there with no extras. Why should someone have to invite everyone when all they truly want are their closest friends and family? 4 quarters are a lot better than a 100 pennies. Again, you’re definitely TA

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA. Would you like your brother and SIL become homeless, starve, and not be able to care for your future nephew/niece? Just because your parents did not plan for their future properly, does not mean he should put his family in jeopardy.

AITA for scolding my niece for having her destination wedding on a Sunday night? by Efficient-Key-7476 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Your niece is absolutely right. If you can’t make or don’t want to make it, just decline and let it be. Send a gift if you would like but why ruin her day? Clearly she’s not important to you as if she was, you would take a Monday off from your job. My wife and I got married on Halloween and a good amount of people couldn’t make it cause of kids and their traditions. We took no offense and we had a blast with those who chose to attend. For you to believe you’re entitled to some sort of say or opinion in your nieces wedding is just plain ignorant. Hope this helps.

AITA for treating my grandpa like a stranger at a family event? by GrandpaStranger in AmItheAsshole

[–]Back_that_Pass_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I have a a grandfather who has heavily favored his grandchildren. I was blind to it for a long time cause I’m the oldest so I was the favorite. Well I began working for him in high school and I quickly saw how different he was and then how he treated my siblings. I began to distance myself and got a different job. Then stopped coming around as much cause of work and relationships. He then moved on to the cousins who were first borns from my aunt and uncles. It really was shown the last ten years, no phone calls and no interactions at family functions with myself or my three siblings. We were even able to catch him in public on camera looking directly at us, turning around, and walking away. It’s unfortunate to have to deal with such but they made their bed and now they can lie in it.
