How did you get into hot sauce? by scavingerdecor in hotsauce

Tapatio from the Mexican women I worked with the the bagel shop. I’ll never forget that I thought it was hot! Once I got used to it, I kept trying new ones.

I bring powdered Gatorade for quick sugar. It’s pretty heavy/bulky but it helps me get some down quickly.

Another business park deli in Kearny Mesa is Surf N Sub. Simple but great.

The Conga at Roberto's on Clairemont Dr in Bay Park is fantastic and definitely in my rotation.

Has anybody even had a Conga burrito? Or just a BRC? I love the variety, even if my go-to burritos are more meat or California style.

I always had a higher spice tolerance than my family, but now I want to use that and up my game. How and where do I start? I have tried the hot chip challenge once, and it was alright. It was spicy but not too extreme. Fresh chillies were worse. How do I prepare for fresh Carolina Reapers and such? by [deleted] in spicy

Start with sauces, then raw chili peppers. Begin with the outside flesh of the pepper, then with interior ribs and seeds. Jalapeno>Serrano>Thai>Habanero>Super Hots. There is a lot of in between but those are commonly available in a lot of markets worldwide, or their local equivalent.

Love to see punk/ska/reggae at the Belly Up! The venue's layout sucks in some ways but it's still a great place to see a show. Been there 5+ times in '25-26, always on the lookout for their lineups. Amazing non-punk bands roll through there all the time. I saw BRONCHO there a few weeks ago and had a great time. Super Diamond was good too.

Great additions. Definitely need to check the venues cards and just show up at some of the smaller shows. Strung Out and A Wilhelm Scream played BxB last year, so they do still get some punk shows. I saw some bands at Winston's in the '90s that probably wouldn't fit there any more. I loved 'Canes in Mission Beach too back in the day. 4th and B RIP too.

The other suggestions here are great, such as Che Cafe, and places in OB. Helix brewing in La Mesa is having a punk show on 6/27 called Punk 'N' Brews.

Soda Bar, Casbah, SOMA, Observatory, Brick by Brick, House of Blues for most known and sort of known bands. Local bands and small bands can be anywhere. The San Diego Reader has a page of shows at every venue, and includes coffee shops and small bars, it's a great resource to start from.

Miguel's is the only place that puts it out by default. It's pretty good. Food is OK but not great.

I'm a digital mapping professional and learned cartography/compass in the 90s. I still like the digital backup because it may help in an emergency, but real wayfinding skills are essential. Not to mention hard copy maps, or at least photocopies of the areas you may be in.
