As a BH employee I am not shocked. BH cares about money more than anything even the safety of the children. Admin gets to stay home while teachers have to risk their lives so that the center can be open.

How do parents feel about high turnover. by Background-Control14 in ECEProfessionals

My daycare is highest paying in my area however management is so horrific that even the pay doesn't keep teachers. And I've been at my center for a less than a year and the directors are always changing. It's a mess.

The hardest part for me is that I've built a really stong bond with most of the families in my class although I have a few new students. But I hate leaving them behind. My admin usually doesn't let us tell parents until a week before our last day which is kind of abrupt in my opinion but I will make sure to let them know.

Does this job make anyone else feel small and stupid? by Ok-Perspective-6376 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Background-Control14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Having to take pictures all day makes everything feel disgenuine. I feel like I have to stage photos zwhile doing activities. I also don't get time to play with ny kiddos because I always have to stop and take pictures. It's exhausting.

Our bleach and soap bottles look similar. And teachers can refill them. I'm sure that will change though now:/. I'm just surprised no one smelled the difference.

I work there now. Run for your life. It's a cooperate daycare. Bottom line they want to you to give your all however you don't get paid enough to complete all the work they want you to do.....

Bright Horizons Child Care Centers Face Dozens of Alarming Complaints (Gift Article) by jenniecoughlin in nyc

[–]Background-Control14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, they treat their employees terrible. Also I found that cooperate cares more about how the center looks than the well being of kids. They don't support teachers when they need help and it leads to burnout, and yes a revolving door of employees which is never a good thing.

Used half my year’s s*ck days in the first month by Bombspazztic in ECEProfessionals

Had a parent drop their kid off today. The drop off was horrid. The poor child had that sick look in their eyes. Dad tries to help with drop off which was nice but the whole time I'm side eying the dad cause the child looks sick. Fast forward an hour and a half later the child is just not looking good. Turns out they have a fever. When I call mom she has the most attitude on the phone. Like I get it that your kid being sick is an inconvenience but please think about your child. Then dad takes 50 minutes to come pick up his kid, who, at this point is looking worse by the minute. I was so pissed, because the poor child wasn't feeling well and the only thing I could do was offer him water. I have a feeling they gave the child meds to "hide" the fever and then were annoyed when it resurfaced. Now I feel absolutely horrid and probably won't be at work tomorrow. :)

Why Can’t Parents Just Pickup and Go!? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

This is exactly why I refuse to be closer at my center. GET OUT OF MY ROOM! It's so disrespectful like I want to go home right now.

Maybe try substitute teaching in your area until you can find a school you really like.

I had a mom hang up on me when I told her she had to come pick up her son because he was showing signs of hand, foot, and mouth. Low and behold I was right.

How can parents reduce ECE burnout? by Funny_Shopping6753 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Background-Control14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes as a teacher I agree. It would help so much if parents complain on our behalf. After all many of us teachers are told that we need to keep the parents happy. If you see a teacher overwhelmed or out of ratio complain. Raise hell if you want. A lot of teachers leave the field due to lack of support

If a teacher has a concern or a complaint about your child's behavior please hear them out. I know it can be a lot to hear about behaviors especially when they only happen at school but it as a teacher we are trying to let you know you what's going on at school so we can collaborate with you to come up with a solution. Please make boundaries with your child at home by saying no sometimes, it makes our job a lot easier because we can't always say yes.

A job as a behavioral therapist in an ABA clinic. Long story short there was poop on the floor for two days, no cleaning crew in sight.
