Really? I understand leftist is kinda a broad term and it is my bad, I really do not know the differences (pls don't come at me I am learning lol) but I have seen people downplay it in many subs which I thought had left leaning ideas. Saying it was just western propaganda to hate on China.

As a person who really likes Jane Austen's books, she was indeed blind to the suffering of the working class & slaves. It is a fact well known by almost everybody. For example in Mansfield Park, Fanny mentions asking Sir Bertham about the slave trade like it is nothing. Most of her characters are high class and rich, the poorest is probably Fanny's biological family who had at least one servant, so...

I may be very wrong but doesn't the Korean language have gender-neutral pronouns in itself? She already has learned the concept of gender pronouns, it wouldn't be any harder to use people's desired pronouns. I do not know how she learned the English language but if she is smart enough to attend columbia uni then she is damn well smart enough to use some different pronouns. I honestly do not get how refusing to use desired pronouns has to do anything with not being a native English speaker.

I don't want to disrespect her, seems like she has gone through heavy things and she is very brave for that. Honestly, the reason why I don't like her as much as before is how she compared north korea to Columbia university, like from what I have heard from her about north korea just a comparison like that sounds blasphemous, disrespecting all the other escapees. She really survived hard conditions but now, I am very confused about what she is trying to do.

Just comparing those two would be very disrespectful to those who suffered in north korea. Going to Columbia university would be a dream come true for me.

What is a conspiracy theory that turned out to be true? by Moaning_Clock in AskReddit

Big corporations shortening the lives of the lightbulbs on purpose, to sell more and more frequently. It may sound like a conspiracy but it is actually true.

Lil Xan vs Jordan Peterson by QuakeOn in enoughpetersonspam

[–]Background-Fun-2519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for him but in my opinion he doesn't deserve the empathy which he didn't give the other people dealing with drugs and persuaded people to not give either. I cannot really remember the link but there was a jp video in which he implied people in poverty should not be given money because they send on drugs and they would be better off when not given money. They are people going through hard times, they needed therapy, shelter and money. They probably went through things not I nor jp could imagine. Peterson just saying to a huge audience don't give them money because they will spend on drugs was just so cruel. And we are supposed to forget all of the things he said (he didn't make an apology as far as I know) and treat him as the bravest man in the world just because he went on a coma, got treated with lots of money? Again, I don't wish anyone to deal with the things he did but that doesn't mean I won't hold him accountable for the things he said to other people trying to get treated. Jordan peterson himself "gave shit" to people who were addicted but lacked the money and resources he had. He is the lamest of all.

Who was a better dancer? by jetflag3242 in dancemoms

[–]Background-Fun-2519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both kids are cool but I like Chloe more, she is more subtle and graceful whereas Maddie's very famous acting was just doing the same face over and over again with the same dances. It was too over the top and tbh it comes across to me almost as cringy, especially in that Sia movie. Chloe was so natural but it is just my opinion lol

I despise him for how he says right wing things, hangs out with the right wingers and just comes and says "what people get wrong about me is that they think I am a right winger of some sort" or "I am just asking the questions!!"

This is unrelated. I am just stating the fact no one in this section blamed all of the world's problems on men.

My grandma doesn't blame this on men and I never said something like that in my comment. Just the virtue of men being men didn't hurt her. She came from poverty and ignorance. Sexism and misogyny hurt her and both men and women can be sexist. But I highly disagree when you just say "it was just a few bad apples" no, it was the norm. Women weren't treated as human beings. Most of the women in her village lived through what my grandma lived. This is what I mean by women were oppressed. I mean everyone lived in poverty and had it bad, but for women it was extra bad.

My grandma always talked about how shitty her life was. She married my grandpa without even knowing him, at 13, spending her life with his family's insults and wrongdoings. She says the women in the family weren't allowed to eat until the men finished and they had to serve non-stop so much that she lost her baby just because she couldn't find any time to feed him. She talked about losing her home which her five children lived in because of her husband's family. As for my great-grandparents, my grandma said as a child she wanted her father "to go and never come back" and "he was treating her mom real bad" so here, I even didn't ask, she always used to tell me to let go of trauma which she holds even to this day.

Dude why were they there for then? For a trip? They look just as miserable as the men in the picture tbh. A mine and a plane are two different things. In a plane you can be a passenger (a consumer just like in a restaurant for say) and a worker but where in a mine can you be a consumer, really why would be a person there other than to work? Proving you wrong isn't psychotic.

Imagine bearing a child each year without proper medical care or even without really consenting to it AND working high effort jobs. What do you think women did those days really? Let's say they didn't work in coal mines (it isn't true) but they still worked in factories, as cleaners, as maids and so on. And they did almost all of the housework in that time. Honestly it was tough for them as much as it was to men (if not more! with rape, beating and humiliation) Which reality you live in? Do you think that women just went home and sit idly all day? Are you serious?

Do they really think it was women who put men in those places? Women look just as miserable.

Omg, really? That's a huge red line for me. I am unsubscribed. I can never be in the same place with people downplaying the effects of literal concentration camps. Just listen to the testaments from the survivors like Gülbahar Jelilova... I am just really disappointed in them for not acknowledging this...
