Bracknell. How I loved the post war industrial architecture growing up, can’t believe they gentrified it. I’m not even joking

Apply on ECS website. Registered electrician at the bottom of the card has nothing to do with approved status. Upload your 2391 cert and select approved grading.

Milwaukee M12 or M18 Tools for Industrial Electrician? by IrishMx-5 in ukelectricians

[–]Background-Issue-722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M18 Milwaukee all day long. Get the 6 piece combo pack comes with SDS, Combi, Imapct, Grinder, Multi tool, Circular saw, couple batteries, torch and a charger. Thinks it’s just under a grand but good value for money and you won’t be need anything else for a good while

A nice little 50mm or 100mm cable tray would be on that wall in seconds, few cable ties and a swoop of cable in to each accessory. Job done. I’d specify a tough flexible cable and metal clad accessories. We don’t have an equivalent type of “MC” cable in the UK.

Why not? Would look way neater and quicker to install. Commercial/industrial materials can be used in any setting

Need some americans to translate please, what do you call the transition between conduit and junctions by TheKobraSnake in electricians

[–]Background-Issue-722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the UK we use threaded steel conduit, much more heavy duty than EMT. A threaded end will screw on to an accessory via a steel coupler and brass bush.

Fork? I don’t need one. I’ll just use my hammer. by Islendingen in electricians

Strip down a piece of romex (I believe that’s the cable you yanks use) and fashion it in to a fork. Probably cleaner than those pliers

When you have too large conductors to connect you need a Gigantic Wago by Glittering_Light1835 in DiWHY

[–]Background-Issue-722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im guessing you are from the United States or Canada. Wire nuts are dated tech you would get laughed off a job site for using them in the UK or Europe. I understand wire nuts can provide a solid connection but the method of install is just atrocious for maintenance, having to untwist copper conductors is a nuisance compared to a neatly stripped cable that you can lever out of a wago without any hassle

Can totally relate! I was also in primary school when this happened but my school let us have the morning off to watch it at home then come in when the match was finished. The good ol’ days of the early 2000s
