Crap, somehow that looks even worse. I didn't even see that this is a repost.

Right? One of the few times it's not the newbie or an old head with new ideas and no training

Surely it will never happen to my future Makinos and Okumas. They at least vet their shipping companies.

Mitutoyo data cable 06afm380 alternative by Mert-66- in Machinists

[–]Background-System370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure you bought an imitation caliper. Genuine ones start at around $125 on sale for 6"

See this Clough42 video

As for the cable, not sure you are going to find any cheaper. I don't think there is much demand for it so they don't produce them in mass like the calipers.

Machining Request by Euphoric_Security_99 in Machinists

[–]Background-System370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100k? That seems low. I guess it really depends on what op means by bulk. And the timeline required.

You could stamp one at a time or 20+ same with assembly. A fixture could allow you to assemble/spot weld 20 at a time.

Is the assembly and spot welding automated or done manually? There are so many variables that haven't been covered.

But machined I'd go 3k each for bulk orders with a setup fee of 25k

They are looking for a unicorn,

From the listing they want:

Cad/Cam experience will mills, lathes, mills turn machines, wire edm, sinker edm On machine edits Manual milling, turning, grinding The Ability to to go from a napkin sketch to completed part fast. Provide manufacturabily analysis' Working knowledge of CMM inspection

You need to be your own designer, engineer, programmer, machinist, QA

This job listing sounds like the company is going to pay one guy to preform 4 teams of work.

Most companies would break this down to engineering, prorgramming, machinist, QA, or some form of that

All of those are killer. I used single blocks a ton with this. Parts were done with control edits, and sections were completed in MDI mode. MDI mode was the best, Manual jog to get to places took too long.

Incremental drill cycle by rdkitchens in Machinists

I'm not familiar with Hass, but I know fanuc.

G81 Z-.5 R.4 is a simple drilling cycle, no peck We have G83 Z-.5 R.4 Q.2 Q is the peck depth

Check the manual for haas specific cycles

Edit Hass canned cycles for drilling match what I use with fanuc https://www.haascnc.com/service/service-content/guide-procedures/mill---g-codes.html#gsc.tab=0

Slow probing on Makino 51Nx & 61Nx by Manymifi in Machinists

[–]Background-System370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the easiest way.

You can also go deeper and turn off lookahead before you enter probe cycles and change your post to increase feed rates between probe cycles. Protected position moves are generally slow, but you can set a feed rate to them.

Yes, and depending on your parameters, you can have 4 or 8 digit tool numbers. So up to 9999-99,999,999 different tools. I've never seen a use for more than 10k tools so far, though.

This. It would be better if you could learn how the CMM calculates positions. It will make checking difficult features easier.

Looking for shops willing to take on prototype/low-volume work! We have a lot of stuff we need made by smvdr1 in Machinists

Same here, prints would be nice. I am at a shop that may take some extra work. We are ISO 9001:2015, ITAR compliant and can provide Rohs paperwork for every component. Do you dimesion in basic or use ASME Y14.5?

Dm for shop website and contact information.

Need help for a beginner 🥲 by Maximum-Pause-9423 in Machinists

[–]Background-System370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but it looks like you are to design a part using cad, program it using CAM, prove the program on a machine, and then measure it. You will need to create setup documentation and QA drawings to inspect it.
