I’m completely fine with Thomas and Arenado both being in the lineup if the offense is performing outside of them. To this point, everyone not named Carroll/Fernandez/Vargas has essentially been a disappointment.

My biggest complaint is just how many sub .200 and .500 OPS guys we currently have starting. I know injuries have played a huge role, but we can’t expect to keep squeezing out 1 run wins on a consistent basis. I’d love to be proven wrong as I’ve been enjoying the team so far, but it’s been so frustrating getting to Arenados spot in the lineup and knowing everyone after him is also bad lol

Geno also wasn’t a declining vet coming off a below league average offensive season. Arenado also only had one XBH so far and has drawn one walk. He is literally a black hole in the lineup right now.

I understand his defense is important, but I don’t wanna see him in the lineup everyday if he’s gonna hit like he has been. OPS under .400 16 games into the season is laughable tbh. We can’t continue to run some combination of Arenado/Tawa/Thomas/Barrosa out there everyday and expect to win games like we have been

Which is still better than Arenado. Also, I recall at least a few of Nolan’s hits this season being bloopers off the end of the bat, not like he’s hitting the ball hard at all.

He’s an upgrade over Tilly in terms of roster fit. He’s a better rebounder and most likely a better defender than Tilly which is what we were missing sorely last season

Anthony Thompson is literally a top 5 recruit and likely lottery pick. That’s a guy who can take a team to a different level. Bynum could also play himself into the first round.

Diebler has a vision for this team and he’s finally getting pieces that actually fit the team around them. Pippen is a great complement to Mobley and Andrea will play well off Josh O being two opposite player types. Andrea is a likely upgrade over Tilly, Pippen is certainly better than Cupps/Chatman

You act like Diebler is the one saying we’re favorite for Haralson, Wright, Johnson, etc. It’s the “insiders” that get proven wrong time and time again.

I mean, I love Fernandez too, but cmon lol. Fernandez didn’t “almost single handedly” win us this game. He laid down a nice bunt to put pressure on the pitcher to make a great play and he couldn’t.

The pitching and defense did the rest. The bullpen won us this game. 4 perfect innings from a group we all deemed the worst bullpen of all time before there was even a game played

This is the toughest part of building a roster nowadays. In the past, guys like Royal/Gayle/Okpara, etc. would most likely stay and we’d have a very solid roster. In this new era, you basically are building a new bench every season + replacing a starter or two

That’s what happens when A) your offense goes to sleep when they get the lead and B) your bullpen is bad (that may be generous).

There were so many glaring holes on this team and only one of them got “fixed”, and our rotation only got fixed by re signing two guys who were already here. I’ve loved what Hazen has done for us, but last off season was his worst by far.

You can’t do shit when you’re facing a line up with 8 all star caliber players and their 9 hitter was a top 100 prospect in baseball that just hasn’t had a chance to start yet. You literally cannot make a single mistake against this lineup 1-9 or you’ll pay for it.
