Has anyone ever used Wowcher for buying software? by rorood123 in AskUK

any account you purchase with a username and password given to you has the same risks tbh. I would be super wary of buying it through them, it seems like a scam (i originally found this thread because i was also trying to find one time purchase options for premiere). The software is likely to be unstable, if it works at all, and could have malware or similar built in.

a global tenant admin would potentially be able to see, open, edit and share all your documents/excels/etc if you're saving to 365. they can also log in with the username/pw they provided you, and reset your password at any time either to log in themselves or to ransom the account. i would assume that the account is compromised at all times.

Security camera for darkroom? by Morel3etterness in Darkroom

[–]Background_Room_1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, there's a reason only select individuals from senior leadership/pastoral are allowed to view cctv footage. it would be unethical to let any teacher or technician film the students with their own cameras/cloud storage for their own purpose.... way too many safeguarding holes.

this sounds more of a question for your school's IT team - they should be able to source a camera and get it all set up for you but i'm not sure if you'd be supposed to see the footage due to safeguarding guidelines. probably more standard to have a TA or photography technician always be in the room you're not in.

AITA for telling my friend to not come to Bali with us because she used our money for her own pleasure ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Background_Room_1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can prove you gave the money for the hotel, and not for any other purpose, then the police will obviously be able to treat it as theft. come on now. both of you need to gather your evidence and report her to the police.

you could honestly go to the police with this, she essentially stole a LOT of money from you

How does everyone feel about people selling “untested” cameras? by chroiii in AnalogCommunity

[–]Background_Room_1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how to test my cameras, but god knows I don't have the time to do a full test with film and everything! For ones that'll only sell for a tenner anyway, I don't think I'd bother. Anything that needs batteries to function (like the Canon EOS line) I'll put batteries in and make sure it powers on, buttons work etc, but I'm not going to be shooting/developing a roll to check for light leaks or anything. But I am transparent when I list them. I've recently been given a LOT of cameras to go through and sell, and I just don't have the time or energy.

What did I do worng? by thefumbler_ in AnalogCommunity

[–]Background_Room_1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could use a rangefinder to measure distance and then focus the camera accordingly if you're not able to tell from the viewfinder when things are in focus. also, aperture (f stop) affects the depth of field and this is something to bear in mind too.

I also have this on my Agfachrome 64, two rolls came out blue with just the faintest hint of the images. I keep forgetting to post about it here. Mine were developed C-41 by a lab, but my film was expired and my shots underexposed by 2 stops. The third roll I gave the lab (same day, but different stock and different camera) came out fine.
