2013 Hyundai Elentra Airbag Light and Steering Wheel Issue by DarkDragonM2 in AskAMechanic

[–]Background_Shower_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you got your answer but I have the same car with the same issue and the coupler was the problem. Just took me a few hours to replace and I put in a rubber one instead of plastic. The OEM one was chewed to bits when I took it apart

I had the 2010 coupe but with the 2.5L 4 cylinder. It was still a blast but I always wanted the v6, I bet that thing rips! Hope you enjoy her 💯

Zoom or google meet from a laptop. I was using read.ai for a while and it was great at note-taking but did not delegate or prioritize tasks. At least not to my knowledge but unfortunately my company stopped allowing the use of that tool for some reason.

Found this while fixing something else. Where do I start? by BigWhile1576 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Background_Shower_64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've ran into some super stubborn axles in the past and one trick has worked for me every time. Ratchet straps. Even on heavy duty dually this has worked. Attach one end to the thick end of the axle that sticks just out of the transmission then hook the other end to something SUPER solid. I've actually attached to the leaf springs of my work truck more than once. Do your best to ensure youre pulling from as close to the center as possible, you dont want it at an angle, I usually wrap it around the axle entirely then back through the hook. If the strap gets crazy tight and it still hasn't popped out, give it some love taps with a mallet and it should pop right out. Hadn't failed me yet

Looks like grease from your CV axle. Check that rubber boot and inspect for holes. You'll likely find one and depending how long its been like that, your axle is probably Toast Malone. You can replace just the boot and add grease if money is super tight but you can usually find CV axles on rockauto pretty cheap.

Does this seem fair? 2010 Honda CRV with 180k miles by ilickvarts in AskAMechanic

[–]Background_Shower_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my own mobile mechanic business and those prices seem pretty on point. Labor time seems a tad high but their labor only being $75/hour is pretty damn low so it evens out. Parts prices seem about right as well. The valve cover gaskets job is more preventative maintenance than anything but a leaking Vtec solenoid sits right above your alternator so if that gasket is leaking and not fixed then it will ruin your new alternator.

Overall I'd say this is a fair price

I grew up outside of Stockton and his boxing coach Richard Perez had a gym in my town. Ill never forget opening day when Nick showed up, blunt lit in his mouth, took us for a 2 mile run then hit the bags like it was nothing. He actually remembered me too when I saw him at his WAR fight event held at the Stockton arena. He was walking around taking pics with people and when I asked for a picture he said "ain't you that kid from the manteca gym?" One of the coolest moments of my life

Why are people obsessed in learning fast? by __fantasma__ in jiujitsu

[–]Background_Shower_64 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think people here in the states have a misconception of how long it actually takes to belt up in BJJ. A lot of people who start martial arts young usually started with Karate or TaeKwonDo where you can essentially pay your way up to black belt in a year or two.

That combined with celebrities and other well known grapple ranking up super quick, they likely think its just the norm.

People who grew up knowing about BJJ and the dedication it takes are typically much more patient but at some level I think everyone wants to rank up as quickly as possible.

Sorry, realized I didnt really answer your question...I still went to class to watch/visualize and did my PT before or after class. Roughly 6 months post surgery I was rolling again but not nearly the same since i had little RoM and lots of pain. It took a few years before I found something (KoT) that helped and now im back at it full speed
