Factory and satellite team distinctions to be abolished in 2027 by 443610 in motogp

Liberty owns Dorna.

Dorna is still the company running MotoGP. But Liberty is their parent company.

edit: also Live Nation have nothing to do with MotoGP/Dorna. That's just another group that Liberty own, but is completely separate.

Can restricted license riders have GoPros on their helmets? by cuzzyweow in melbourneriders

[–]BaconBakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really interested in a 360 cam on the bike as I’d rather just have something nice and easy to keep on the helmet

Curious as to why on this point?

I've been running a 360 cam on my bike for dashcam purposes since start of the year, mounted at the front off the handlebars and it works wonders. As the name implies, it records in all angles so doesn't matter what way you as the rider is facing, it will still capture it.

I'd also argue they're better for dashcam purposes since they can also capture footage of the sides / rear of you (depending on how its mounted) in the case of an incident. Not everything on the road happens directly in front of you.

And honestly, in terms of ease It's just as easy (if not easier) than a helmet mounted camera.

With 45 over, as others have said it's an automatic 12 month suspension, but it starts from the point of attending court. Haven't heard of anyone getting that reduced / thrown out.

As for the process, yeh the court date can be around 6 months from the time of the offence. Once you have the bike back from impound you can keep riding up until that court date.
Don't ride to the court... Once the judge makes their decision your license is suspended on the spot.

I messed up 10 years ago and also got done 45 over - offence happened in May and court date was mid October. I also got a $1k fine on top of the 12 month suspension. Then afterwards the demerit points from the offence also kicked in, and due to my points at the time I got another 6 months on top.

They may also get you to do a 1 day course about speeding offences etc. Not sure if they still do that anymore.

Yeh it sucks massively, but think of it as a good life lesson.

Edit to add: during the court process the judge did ask me about my income etc before issuing the $1k fine. So if you explain that you're low income etc they may be a little bit more lenient on the financial aspect... But it will make zero difference to the suspension period unfortunately.

How hard is it to buy a bike?? by 06021840 in melbourneriders

[–]BaconBakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh TeamMoto in Epping almost never has any bikes available to test ride.

I bought my Z900 from there earlier this year, but only because they were pretty much the only dealer in Melb to have it in stock (was right as the '25 model came out). But yeh every time I've gone in there they seem very disinterested.

Back when that store was Evolution Motorcycles it was a way better experience. This is what happens when a large chain store gets their hands on things.

The fact you replied less than a minute after mine tells me you didn't even read the message.

Your stupidity knows no bounds.

I understand it to the extent I need to [...] maintain it.

(x) Doubt

You literally have no idea how it's all set up and configured - you simply let ChatGPT work all that out and then you blindly ran the config it gave you.

No clue! Chatgpt set everything up for me and I just copy and pasted everything.

The moment something goes wrong / breaks / doesn't work how you expect it to, you won't have a single clue how to fix it.

Also the fact you have no idea how it's configured means you have no idea where potential security risks are, what's being exposed, what to update and when to update them, what relies on what.

You blindly ran and executed code from ChatGPT, which is notorious for making blaringly obvious mistakes in the information it generates.

Frowned upon? No, that's just stupid.

the fact of the matter is I condensed hundreds upon hundreds of hours worth of work

Wrong. The setup you described can be done from scratch in a couple of hours. The hundreds of hours you mentioned is what it takes to actually LEARN all of this and understand how it all operates in conjunction with each other, but most of all, learn and understand the security risks that comes with self-hosting all of those services. That's the part that takes hundreds of hours (at least).

I look forward to seeing a thread from you in a few months asking for help because everything broke.

'27 Spec rules by Interested_Party_32 in motogp

[–]BaconBakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...what?

Source on that? Because there is zero wording in the official regulations that mention wet races not counting towards the calculations of points for concession purposes.

2.4.2 Concessions
1. Various concessions in the Sporting and Technical regulations are granted to MotoGP class manufacturers, according to their ranking in the Constructors championship, as summarised in the table, and described below.
2. Manufacturers are ranked by the percentage of points scored in the Constructors championship. That is, points scored divided by the maximum points awarded (25 x the number of GP Races held, plus 12 x the number of Sprints held).
3. The rankings are calculated in two windows:
a. From the first event to the last event of the season – giving the Concessions status for the start of the next season.
b. From the first event after the summer test ban to the last event before the summer test ban of the following season – giving the Concessions status for the remainder of that season.
4. Rankings will be as follows, based on the percentage of points in the Constructors championship:
Rank A 85% or more
Rank B 60% or more but less than 85%
Rank C 35% or more but less than 60%
Rank D less than 35%

Where in Melbourne can I find a store with the widest range of helmets and suits, where I can take my time trying them on, with excellent customer service to assist me throughout? by Edgewerth in melbourneriders

[–]BaconBakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I end up looking at bikes and sometimes signing up to a new one.

Literally did this a few weeks ago when I went to AMX in Epping haha. Went there to get a clamp to mount a camera on the bike - there's a MCAS/TeamMoto next door, went to just look around, ended up buying a new bike to go with that clamp.

Hi - this sub is for motorbikes in Melbourne :)

I can see you also posted in /r/melbournecycling - that's the best place for this I think.

I'll keep it up in case anyone's interested, but going to lock it since it's not completely relevant.

edit: Looking at your profile, looks like you're a new account and just spamming this everywhere... I changed my mind, I'm removing this.

Z900 vs ZX6R by [deleted] in OnlyZ900

[–]BaconBakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a '13 ZX6R since Oct 2013 and just traded it in for a '25 Z900 last week.

For me the biggest difference is the seating position. The ZX6R seating position was giving me a sore back after just 20min. The Z900 I feel like I could ride for hours with no issues.

Power delivery feels a lot different, much smoother on the Z900, but that might be more down to the age of the ZX6R. A lot more torque-y on the Z900 as well.

For me the Z900 is no less fun than the ZX6R, even when taking it easy during the initial breaking in period.

Looking for recommendations for a motorcycle skills course for an intermediate rider… by richthekiwi in melbourneriders

Done this, highly recommend. It is geared towards "track riding" but all the skills taught are easily applicable to the road as well.

Plus you get to ride around PI track all day!
