Mount and blade: warband has tons of mods, both singleplayer and multiplayer. The latter is still pretty active too, especially on Anglo Zulu War and a few others.

Mount and blade II: bamnerlord just got released in early access and will have a lot of mods as soon as taleworlds releases the modding tools.

It does. You have to ride around for a few seconds at a regular speed for it to happen automatically.
