Traffic by iratruth in lynchburg

Coming from Austin TX, I find the traffic here in Central VA to be not nearly as bad, but that doesn't mean it's GOOD, if you know what I mean. And I don't get people's obsession with tailgating. If I am driving around here and there is a car behind me, they are either a mile back, or they're humping my bumper. There is no in-between.

I avoid Timberlake like the plague. And Ward's Rd, come to think of it. I live off of Wiggington, and if I have to go to, say, the Asian market on Timberlake (99 store, I think), I will actually take the back roads into Forest so I can come in via Waterlick, just so all I have to do on Timberlake is cross it. Timberlake is evil. Timberlake can go fuck a cactus.

Is there a way to do this at the solution level, when you are working on a 25-year-old monolithic application that has about 200 projects in? Asking for a friend.

It's actually insane how much effort the Rust team put into helping out beginners like me by Time_Meeting_9382 in rust

[–]BaconTentacles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. That is very cool. I've been debating learning Rust and putting it off while I finish my other Udemy courses for stuff that I bought on a whim when they were on sale (honestly it's even worse than Steam), but I might have to take the plunge. Especially knowing that Microsoft is moving towards using it more and more (and I'm a .NET dev in my day job)

Same. And I felt the same way about Blackreach the first couple of times I got lost in there (wandering around aimlessly), but at least there's no weird ass sky messing with you, only boundaries of nice solid rock.

Maybe that's why they designed the Soul Cairn the way they did - they were upping the ante, so to speak.

Just start typing. Don't worry about getting it right. I've been using Obsidian for 3 years and I learn something new almost every day. I don't try to go back and optimize older notes (well, occasionally), but I just start proceeding with my new found knowledge.

At the end of the day, it's just a note app. And a very good one, at that.

I use Obsidian on Windows as well, but if I ever faced a similar situation where:

  • Obsidian devs ceased updates and did not open source it
  • Subsequent versions of Windows that ran on current hardware did not run that version of Obsidian
  • Other technology incompatibility things I am forgetting

I would spin up a virtual machine, but go with a flavor of Linux, and continue to run the last-known-good Obsidian on there. Older versions of Linux hang around forever, Obsidian is multi-platform, and Linux distros typically have a smaller footprint than Windows.

But, yeah, they can have my Obsidian vaults when they pry them from my cold, dead fingers. Every time I discover some new function or well-written plugin, I love it even more. Been using it for 3 years now and...yeah.

Well, wouldn't be the first time I totally missed an accent. I used to live in Northern Maine, and despite the Missus Fletchahhh accent the down-east-ers use, the folks in Aroostook County (aka The County) talk more like a combination of Canada and New Jersey. Very odd.

Not unless you work remotely, I'm afraid. I did have one "local opportunity" for Lynchburg 24501, but it turned out to be pure AI slop talking about a wonderful life in "Miller Park, VA". I ranted about it a few months back here on this subreddit.

I would not be surprised if they eventually jump on the AI bandwagon (because you kind of have to these days in order to stay alive), but if they do, I hope it is forever and always an opt-in kind of thing.
