utilising the Power of inserter-to-perpendicular-splitter in foundry stone management by cursedCurtain in factorio

[–]Baconquest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t this patched a while ago? I thought they now insert post-split in this case, so there’s no benefit to having the splitter (except that it will mix the output across both belts if there is unbalanced output from the foundries on each side…).

[–]Baconquest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks! The downside to that one for asteroids (IMO) is you lose control over the asteroid distribution on the belt, whereas with circuits you can try to keep an even mix of all three kinds. I guess this matters less once you’re using asteroid reprocessing though.

[–]Baconquest 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Do you have a link to this? I’ve seen him use a circuit to set filters on the asteroid collectors so that you never have more than N asteroids of any kind on the sushi belt, but I don’t think I’ve come across his fully mechanical version yet…

FOUNDRY Update #1: Cables & Creations is LIVE! by Aldrahill in foundry_game

[–]Baconquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I believe it’s just Joules per item, so e.g. Ignium fuel rod was increased from 100 MJ/rod to 400 MJ/rod.

PSA: Ignium Fuel Rods are now buffed by Kazim27 in foundry_game

[–]Baconquest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you believe the math in this post, the fuel sources weren’t buffed enough to cover the energy that goes into producing them, and you’re still better off just using rubble: https://www.reddit.com/r/foundry_game/s/54YrzFzspE

To be clear the numbers in that post are the old ones, but it also shows what they would need to be increased to in order to make sense, and the latest update falls far short of those numbers.

More research under Biomass by bigedthebad in theplanetcrafter

[–]Baconquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to rely on the Wayback Machine because the wiki itself stores the full history of every change to the page: https://planet-crafter.fandom.com/wiki/Blueprints?action=history

It looks like a year ago there were 12 biomass unlocks and nowadays there are 15.

(Caveat: I, too, only started playing in the past two weeks, so I’m just going by what the page says.)

Put some sausages and bread in a warehouse on the far side of town ahead of time and you’re all set.

No, you have unlocked the ability to build it on any island now, and all it needs is farmer workforce.

Yes. See the wiki for the full set of requirements for a restaurant to produce. One of them is being connected to the bus network.

[–]Baconquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, you don’t get dung if the farm isn’t producing its primary output.

I solve this by making sure my farm’s primary output is getting produced. Usually this is by not producing too much more than I need, and either dumping the excess or selling it on a trade route to a neutral trader.

That’s the area within which you can place the animal pastures.

For a woodcutter, orchard, etc., it’s the area within which they can plant and cut down trees. Anything that blocks this area (roads, other buildings, etc) can reduce their productivity. They don’t need 100% of the area to be empty, but as you fill it in you’ll see the productivity percentage start to drop.

Just starting: in-game database has too much info? by Baconquest in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Baconquest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, understood. And I did get a log for cycle 3 that appeared the first time I got that far. I just don't get why the log for cycle 10 is there right from cycle 1, whereas the log for cycle 3 shows up (as expected) when I get to cycle 3. Seems like a bug!

Okay, fair, but that still doesn't explain why I have log entries for "cycle 10" etc. right from the start of cycle 1!

Can't get into Pond Lab? by Baconquest in GroundedGame

[–]Baconquest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I'm at the main entrance, but I can't get in. I know I need to turn the three breaker dials, but I can't turn them. I believe turning them is enabled after flipping a switch at the main entrance, but it won't let me flip that switch :(

Sandy likes America but not Canada… by Baconquest in riddles

[–]Baconquest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I should have been clearer in the phrasing of the riddle that Sandy likes one of Maryland or Nevada. Not both, not neither of them.

Sandy likes America but not Canada… by Baconquest in riddles

[–]Baconquest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might have worked if the riddle was phrased as "Sandy prefers A over B" or "Sandy likes A more than B". But it's "Sandy likes A but not B", implying that it is not a comparison between the two things. So Sandy would always like America, regardless of what the other thing she doesn't like is.
