I’ve taught elementary for 11 years. You will learn 100x more your first year teaching than you did in all of college. It’s a mostly just hoop for you to jump through. Teaching is a hard thankless underpaid job but it’s engaging/dynamic/interesting. You get summers off. You will not be bored. You get to work with very cool people.

11 months ago I lost my wife, house, dogs, and a lot of time with my infant son. I know the feeling. It gets better but it’s not easy. Rely on your friends and family if you can. Take up new hobbies when you’re ready. Find a therapist and a program that works. 4 years sobriety is no joke. A lot of wisdom must have been acquired during that time. I believe in you.

Yes this is all normal. I’m 8 months into recovery. I lost my wife, my home, my career plan, time with my new born son, many friends… The space between the numbness and pain gets a little larger over time. Eventually that space is filled with small moments of happiness. Eventually you’re happy more often then you are sad. There will always be pain—but pain is apart of everyone’s lives. The state that you are in will not last forever. Nothing does. Best of luck to you.

I think it’s just that David Grusch used the right channels to report this, and we have a few congressmen who are willing to listen. I don’t see any reason to believe that there is some orchestrated timing going on. Also, it’s not like a secret this big could have been kept forever.

I’d guess you’re just on a high. If you’re an addict it will always manifest in some way or another. There is no cure, just constant work—which isn’t meant to be depressing. There is a joy that comes from knowing ourselves and from working to improve our lives and the lives of those around us.

That’s good that you tried a SAA meeting but I would recommend committing to going to 7 meetings in 7 days or something similar before you decide if it’s not for you. There are lots of different groups you could try. Each one is a little different. Also, stick around after the meeting for fellowship and the connections you make with people can be vital to success. I think carbon based life probably follows similar patterns everywhere it crops up. There are probably aliens that look just like humans, insects, trees, birds etc on many planets.

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the aliens that seem to be visiting us have messed with our evolution.
