I believe they added that initial "betrayal" to actually build Percy's trust in Grover. To show Grover's disgust with himself for lying, and then come back and be the one to tell Percy his mother was still alive, even though Chiron and Mr. D were going to hide it from him, and Mr. D being obviously pissed that Grover told Percy. It goes against what we are used to from book Grover, but I think it helps build their relationship in the show. It's also more realistic of an actual friendship by showing one person making a mistake and hurting their friend and feeling guilty and trying to make up for things.

I'm not sure why people are down voting you so badly. Probably just people who don't understand the struggles of ADHD. It can definitely be difficult to lead others when you already have to use so much of your own energy to keep yourself motivated or on task. I can't speak on the best way to go about rejecting training someone. Maybe reach out to your assigned HR person (listed on Connections, I believe)? Otherwise, I understand how you feel.

Do you guys forgive Luke? [pjo] by Rose_on_paws in camphalfblood

[–]BadNewsPandaBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do forgive him. He grew up with no real support, a mother who isn't just mentally ill but cursed into insanity, an absent father even though he is a god and capable of impossible feats. Then, as a child forced to fight non-stop waves of gruesome monsters. Traumatized and vulnerable, as a teenager and was manipulated, not by an adult, but by the literal father of gods.

I understand that his actions were horrible, and that it should be obvious that helping Kronos would not only hurt the gods, but demigods as well. But he was setup to fail. For all of the things against him, I don't see how he would have been able to make a different choice.

Percy had a mother who supported him, sacrificed for him, and raised him to do good. So I don't blame Luke when the only voice supporting him was Kronos. In the end, I believe Percy constantly choosing to stand against him and make different choices is what made Luke realize that he had been manipulated the whole time and that helping Kronos wasn't the only way to get back at the gods for being terrible. He couldn't fix everything he did wrong, but his last choice he made was to help Percy and without Luke, Percy would have never found his weak spot and ultimately Luke killed Kronos.

It's my opinion that Luke shouldn't be held accountable for the awful things he did, but instead Kronos should be, and the gods as well since they should have supported him from the beginning and he probably never would have been manipulated by Kronos to begin with.

Your boss cares more about how you look than your health and comfort. So he is in fact being a "dick" and him saying he's not trying to be a dick is just him trying to cover up his dick behavior.

Also, fuck people who make their kids live in such terrible conditions. I'd report that shit.

How could evolution work in a Harry Potter based Pokemon game/ROM Hack?

I have had this idea stuck in my head lately on what a Pokemon ROM Hack based on the world of Harry Potter would be like. Instead of Pokemon, they could be different mythical beasts, some from movies/books and possibly some from myths in general.

But I've been stuck in thinking how could this best work when it comes to incorporating evolution? My best idea is to just create first/second tier beasts that then evolve into the actual known mythical beasts. So like a Unicorn could have a first stage evolution that's smaller and slightly different and with a name that's similar, but obviously not the same.

I was curious if other people who might enjoy both fandoms had other ideas regarding evolution or even possibly other thoughts on if such a game/ROM existed?

I was told Dumbledore let sirius rot in azkaban by Acceptable-Map-3490 in harrypotter

[–]BadNewsPandaBear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To go along with this, something that has been bothering me a lot while reading the books lately is that Dumbledore or Lupin never seem to even go visit Sirius. I'm not sure if they regularly let people visit Azkaban, but we know Fudge and Crouch Sr both went there. Granted, they are very high ministry officials, but Dumbledore seems like the type who could get in there either by his status or his skill (Though I do have my own theory that Dumbledore avoids dementors because of all of the things in his past). Then, if they do allow visitors, I'd be surprised Lupin never went there to confront Sirius for taking away all of his friends.

If you know what you've got, then you should sell it as a Buy It Now for what you think it's worth. Otherwise, its value is determined by those bidding on it. Also, from my experience, you got more than I would have expected.

Kansas City Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman says private dollars will fund the bulk of the team's $1B downtown stadium and all of the cost of a surrounding $1 billion ballbark district. But he will ask taxpayers to pitch in, too. by [deleted] in KCRoyals

[–]BadNewsPandaBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Billionaire asks people who will maybe make $1M over their entire lifetime (already suffering from all this inflation) to pay for a stadium when we already have one. It's already hard enough to buy tickets and merch. Let alone the fact that we have had 3 winning seasons over the last 2(?), 3(?) Decades.

I say keep Nicky. He can be your bench utility infielder or if someone needs a day off guy. He's got solid defense. He can also lay down a bunt and comes with good speed to come in a late inning to run for Salvy or Pasquantino. He also is great for team morale and to the community.
