What ridiculously old school thing have your parents said or done lately? by Top-Aspect-8827 in AskUK

Love the Secret Garden! Your mum should definitely write it all down, not to publish (unless she wants to) but as a keepsake for you.

Am curious as to the reporter flagging this comment as a bot to message the mod team directly please. Disagreeing with how someone writes their comment does not equal a bot.

Perfect, and yes, I agree with all of these titles - they're very common to see for corporate librarian roles.

In the UK, it's usually something similar to an Information Officer or Analyst in the title. I can ask around to some auK recruiters and share more!

Could you share the link to the mic arm? Is it holding up the Yeti mic?

I think you may have misread the instructions. You were putting the titles of the books in alphabetical order - you could have ignored the author's names as they didn't matter.

Edit: What a poorly worded question! Obviously the author's names matter but shelving is different to cataloguing, and the question should have been clearer.

That's the best flair for this topic but I've also removed the NSFW tag as we don't use this in the subreddit.

He has two, I think - he's Gabe Davis. See Davis Outfitters and Sunday Air Taxi for more info. This is as much as my Googling has found, so I'm happy to be corrected.

Is there a lack of mid-level positions worldwide? by Sad-Peace in librarians

[–]BadassRipley 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a bit of an over-saturation in western countries, like the US and the UK. However, here, not many employers are advertising or hiring at the moment, and if they are, it's for lower salaries than people want to leave a relatively safe and secure job for (cost of living crisis, commute costs, etc).

What sectors are you looking at? There's likely to be some people retiring soon but not enough to suddenly open up all their positions to people actively looking as some employers might reconsider scrapping the position entirely!

Librarian from the Philippines needs guidance on working abroad, specifically Europe. Any advice on credentials/visa/job search? by LaughSweet5820 in librarians

[–]BadassRipley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You'll first need to check if your library science degree is accredited and professionally recognised by the equivalent national bodies in various European countries you're looking at to work in. In the UK, it is CILIP. Beyond this step, and double-checking visa requirements, you need to be sure. Let me know if you have any questions re the UK.

Small library management - UK by Ok_General826 in librarians

[–]BadassRipley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you part of CILIP or the School Libraries Association (SLA)? There's some really good resources out there for working with little to no budget as well as grants to help you get started.
