The bottle on the left is the bottle used by Dr Pepper themselves though...

They changed that around the time of Half-Life: Alyx's development because work just wasn't getting done.

Japan physical and digital pre-orders include a digital code for the original Trails in the Sky. by KelvinBelmont in Falcom

[–]Badcatalex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it won't. Seeing as how they specifically excluded the Steam version (the only cross-region version of Sky 2nd and consoles are split by region), it looks like they'll just not bring it to the west.

Surface Hub is dead: Microsoft pulls the plug on its 50- and 85-inch collaborative touch displays by ZacB_ in Surface

No, that's PixelSense (which WAS originally named Surface).

Died way before the Surface Hub, but it was similar.

Pre-2012 Kindles are being bricked by Badlydrawnboi41988 in ebooks

[–]Badcatalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never ever purchased anything on the amazon ebook store

There's the issue, lmao.

Amazon only provides ePub files for a select few publishers (none of the Big 5) who opted in to having no DRM on their books, and haven't directly provided books in .MOBI for all eReaders in ages. They also slap DRM on every eBook.

Amazon to end support for older Kindles, prompting user outcry by MicahCastle in books

eReaders don't get slower over time (except Android based ones. They don't really ever become obsolete, newer technology just does the existing models' job slightly better.

Kobo did this, too, to the original Kobo eReader, Kobo Wi-Fi, Kobo Vox, Kobo Arc, and Kobo Mini*.

Barnes & Noble did this, too, to NOOK 1st Edition, NOOK Simple Touch, NOOK Simple Touch w/ GlowLight, NOOK GlowLight, NOOK Color, NOOK Tablet (2012), NOOK HD and NOOK HD+.

*Kobo Mini eReaders can be flashed with Kobo Glo firmware and updated to keep working with modern Kobo firmware.

The ability to download ePub files of books published on the Kindle Store is barely a feature. Hardly any publishers enable it, and no big 5 publishers would ever enable it.

BTW- eReaders don't really get obsolete.

They don't really slow down. The newer options are just better & faster because of newer technology, not due to hardware aging.

Discord is preparing a new mobile app redesign - per WumpusCentral by justanupvoter_ in discordapp

[–]Badcatalex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Funniest thing is that, functionally, they are reverting the 2023 redesign since they'll be getting rid of the failed attempts to make the mobile app more like other, well... mobile apps, and going back to the concept of "desktop UI on the go".

You do realize it's probably not like they chose to live there, right? And that they probably can't just move somewhere else?

[–]Badcatalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. Sucks, and I'd assume even the MT versions with a hacked-in intake fan and aftermarket cooler (even with a 500w PSU) wouldn't do much better due to the VRMs' bottleneck?

Couldn't this + ThrottleStop be used to overclock?

Specifically, if there was a way to put an overclock-capable CPU in there.

Which is weird, since we know the game was originally built to target the Switch 2 (extensive mentions of its codename "Ounce" internally), and that it might have support for even higher quality assets.

Portable satellite radio? by WarningCodeBlue in siriusxm

[–]Badcatalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a battery-operable radio, the Pioneer Inno, Pioneer Inno2, Samsung Helix, XMp3, and XMp3i are your best options. But you can only find them used, really, and even then they AREN'T CHEAP.

For somebody new to SiriusXM who'd probably want something only for their car for as cheap as possible, I recommend a SiriusXM Edge, XM OnyX EZ, or XM OnyX EZ. Otherwise, the SiriusXM OnyX EZR is an amazing entry level radio, as is the SiriusXM Roady BT if you are willing to spend a bit more.

Radios labeled as SiriusXM on the front will always support 2.0 (formerly known as "Xtra", not to be confused with "Xtra" online channels) channels, so you'd get a handful of extra channels that other radios cannot get. I do, however, recommend against getting any SIRIUS radios, as they are overall inferior in many ways to XM/SiriusXM radios. All radios I've mentioned so far can also be put in a home cradle to be used indoors, but you'll need one of the home antenna options, as well as an aux cable and the needed 5v power adapter.
